If he ever returned, he wouldn't be brought back to take over the team as Captain, heck he wouldn't even be an Assistant Captain. I don't see it as a slap in the face. Fighting on the ice doesn't always equate to a personal grudge between 2 players. It's part of the game.

Plus, it's about winning. If you believe in Smith, this team looks damn good.

I seem to recall an interview with Tre shortly after Iginla was traded to LA. He was asked if they looked into Iginla and he answered something to the effect that they kicked the tires but there was no interest from the player. Fans just need to move on. Be thankful for all of the great years he was here. Be excited about the team we're building now. I, for one, am happy to see an Iginla-free Flames (and it has nothing to do with what he could offer)

Is there a particular reason for the bad blood Iggy appears to have for Calgary?

I think it has something to do with his nixing of the initial trade to Boston and basically demanding to go to Pittsburgh instead even when Boston was on his trade list. Not sure of any direct player feuds.

No, I think he just has moved on from his time as a Flame. I am not even sure how much he really cares about his legacy here now.

No bad blood, I don't think. Just has moved on and closed the chapter. C'est tout.

Probably that he spent the last two seasons in Calgary circling the offensive blue line.

Loved the guy in his prime...no thank you today.

Could it be he always said he didn't want to be traded?Feaster forced him into it.

I see him signing in Nashville. They have room and seem to be loading up to their forward ranks. He could slot into their 3rd line.

I wouldn't say bad blood from Iggy. I believe it's the Flames that are not at all interested in bringing him back.

I have heard mixed things though. Some say he wanted out, others say he never wanted to leave and the team forced his hand. Which is it?

With the Flames having the best D group in the league, it would be pretty epic if the Flames win a cup with Iggy as a 4th liner this year

Correct, I heard from a pretty reliable source that they had a deal in place for Iggy last winter for Wideman but Iggy didn't waive. Not claiming to be an insider... just right place right time.

I am not buying that. Just from a PR move and the money they could make off his return on a cheap deal I have no doubt if they thought they could bring him back as a depth player they would certainly kick the tires there. I think Iginla genuinely has no interest in the Flames anymore.

Like a DQ lineup in the food court?

I heard Iggy won't come back unless we go retro jerseys full time.

So I guess that means he's never coming back.
