Official announcement of retirement from NHL = retired here.
Examples: Corey Crawford, Jay Bouwmeester, ColinWilson

LTIR, no matter the reason or speculation = not retired here.
Examples: Lundquist, Kucherov, Toews,

I voted 1.

However this season is tricky as our season started 4 months before the NHL season. Therefore there was not as much information about what players plans were available. Many players who have retired were playing in the NHL playoffs while we were bidding on them. Then they dress for 40 games of our season before making up their mind. It was a strange year for sure.

I would have no issue if we went with #2 this season and implemented #1 moving forward. But I also have no issue implementing #1 immediately either.

Ya, I thought about this too. This year is a bit of an anomaly.

I wouldn't oppose this either.
