He seems to have found a good fit in Boston, and he's a player who's performance seems to go up and down depending on the strength of that fit.
So I suspect he re-signs in Boston.

Canucks inked Podkolzin to his ELC today. Slightly jealous.

Plus Krejci and Rask at 35 and 34 years old free up 14 million. They may resign but I can't see either resigning for the same money at that age. Boston basically can afford Hall.

They do have to be aware of Debrusk and McAvoy’s next contract in a year, and they have to replace. This offseason they have to sign Kase and Carlo among others, and sign or replace Reilly.
Hall’s next contract ask is a complete mystery to me. His points say he should be cheap.

If this guy gets more than a $1M show me contract someone has been sleeping for the last 4 years. Does he ever play more than 15 games a season?

No. Unless you count every year before this year.

I don’t think they’re very worried about DeBrusk unless he bounces back significantly.

He’s got arb rights. That’s always a crapshoot. And the arbitrator looks at multiple years.

Ya, Debrusk probably doesnt get much of a raise if anything unless he bounces back next year. Been on a decline for a few years now.

Wonder about Barrett Hayton in AZ... could be an interesting guy to target. That organization has all kinds of problems with developing centres.

key points from Friedman's 31 thoughts:
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...-blue-jackets/
the Seth Jones trade will be a complex transaction because it will basically be a trade and sign deal unless someone is willing to give up a lot for a rental.
BJs have talked to Buffalo about Reinhart. Friedman theorizing Sabres might be targeting Korpisalo or Merzlikins
Friedman thinks Pens bring back Malkin and Letang for next season.
Pens will be looking for a veteran to play with Jarry or a new No 1.
Sabres and Eichel to have a meeting this week after a 12 week rest and recovery after his surgery.
Sabres and Eichel have discussed what their options are if there is still a disagreement about next steps.
Likely outcome is a trade.
Ducks made a big pitch for PLD.
Friedman thinks the Ducks will try and take a big swing at doing something big in the offseason.
Grigorenko has multi year offer from KHL and is likely heading back.
Capitals sent some feelers out for Kuznetsov during the past season to gauge interest.
Another side effect of the static cap is that offer sheet thresholds might be lower than ever

He's only been an NHLer for 4 and the first 2 were good (and the 3rd was not that much of a decline). Maybe he's just not a good COVID environment player.
I doubt he gets a raise, but he's gonna get more than $1M. Do they not have to qualify him? I don't think so but I'm not sure why not.

The Ducks would be dumb to take a big swing at any big name player, they are not a Jack Eichel away from being a contender or possibly even a playoff team. They need to continue a rebuild through the draft.

If I was the Flames leadership I would target Joel Armia in the offseason. UFA, big and plays heavy.

My thoughts exactly. He’s a great two way player too and still has some untapped potential in the production department.

So, who is ready for a major Flames / Leafs trade.
Gaudreau + Tkachuk for Marner + Nylander

This offseason more than ever would be a great one to attempt to make sweeping changes to the core... for laughs here’s my take.
Give Gio + 2nd if the Kraken select Backlund
Monahan for Tuch + 2nd
Tkachuk + Zary + 1st + Kylington for Eichel
Sign Hyman and Oleksiak to multi year deals
Sign Getzlaf, Stone and Ritchie to 1 year deals
Extend Gaudreau + Bridge Deal Dube, Valimaki and Mackey
Gaudreau - Eichel - Tuch
Mangiapane - Lindholm - Hyman
Lucic - Getzlaf - Dube
Pelletier - Ruzicka - Ritchie
Phillips
Hanifin - Tanev
Oleksiak - Andersson
Valimaki - Stone
Mackey
Markstrom
