Wondering if anyone has opinions on what crash bars may be best. Fortnine has Givi and SW-Motech bars available. The Givi bars are about $50 less.

I am wondering if both would work with most skid plates or if I need to plan ahead for that? Any experience here with that scenario?
SW motech are the nicer ones for sure. And they will work with skid plates. You should bet both. Lower only vs both crash bars is kind of a toss up, I use lowers only but uppers would have prevented some scratches on my tank plastics for sure. Lowers offer alot of crash protection already and I'm more worried about the engine and being able to return home than cosmetics

Maybe when I get my new tires on, my currents are no bueno for much off road at the moment. I'd be down for rides though

That is awesome looking! Is it running? I have an old 1979 Yamaha MX175 which I bought when I was in high school. It stopped running last year (I think the carb needs to be rebuilt) but its pretty tough to find parts.

Huge bargain barn find basically, with original documentation from 1980. Not running currently, was up until last year, just no spark which I'm sure is just points since it's entirely original parts. Only 8000km on the clock. Luckily parts are common for it as opposed to your MX175. Carb rebuilt kit should be easy to find though?

Well thats awesome, hope it sparks for you easily. Yeah I poked around online looking for a carb kit for a bit but it was a bit of a chore as it is hard to know the model of carb as its not labelled well or clearly. Would really like to get it running again as it is lots of fun to ride and a nice trail bike to bring along on our quad trips.

Might just have to look for a carb replacement from a similar displacement engine, if you're not too worried about originality.

Good suggestion. I might have to try them out.

I miss the old bike junkyard, I think it was called Mike's bikes. Closed a long time ago I think.

Put bike to sleep this weekend.

I usually just leave my insurance policy on, but I might actually cancel it this year. Has that impacted anyone’s rates?

They usually pro-rate it in a manner that makes it more valuable during the riding months. I used to try this too, they say sure you can insure it for 6 months but it will cost the same.

Ya for mine they charge me for the riding season, but spread it out over 12 months. Others I know pay a higher rate during riding season, but are able to cancel it over the winter. Sounds like its handled differently among insurance companies.

Those in areas where they can ride year round almost (lethbridge) get their money worth, those in Edmonton not so much.

Just a bump for a friendly reminder that with spring comes motorcycles. They’re out in abundance now. Check your blind spots, check your mirrors, and just be aware.

On your bike, position yourself for safety and be diligent in scanning for hazards. Not sure if it’s just my perception, but I feel like we see a handful of single vehicle deaths early in the season...speed, gravel and a bit of rusty skills is a bad combo. Ride safe.

Getting the itch for another bike this year. Seems like Covid pricing is in full effect but maybe something will be too good to pass up.

Stay safe out there peeps!

Just a friendly reminder to ride like an adult...great, the bikes are back at 11pm ripping up and down McKnight and Deerfoot for all to hear. Ugh. I hate motorbike season.

Haven’t been on my Gold Wing for three years. This is the year I ride again; I said that last year.
