No, there's no restrictions on indoor water use at all. They're asking people to be mindful, but that's it
Ok thanks. I still have family and friends in Calgary and some are making it sound a little worse I suppose. Still sucks and hopefully the repair is speedy.

Let them keep believing that they can't do their dishes or wash clothes. Better yet, convince them they can, but only at a car wash.
"you hold grandma's fine china, and I'll spray!"

Did they not shower because of the water shortage? I don't want to sound rude but that is honestly ridiculous. Cleanliness is much more important than saving water. We aren't at a level where you should stop showering for 4 days.
Kids typically hate or forgets to clean themselves. My kids always need to be reminded. Normally they shower every weekday for school and I don't force them to shower on Friday or Saturday if they don't feel like it. They took Thursday off as well because of the water crisis. But it is back to school tomorrow so time to waste some water and get clean again.

This is the thing that gets me, and I wish I could say it was a surprise to me how folks are overreacting at both ends of the slider, but...man...the way some people are misreading "Be mindful, please try to make each use count." just has me shaking my head.

My daughter who is similar has been using the water crisis as an excuse not to shower

Has there been 911 calls with people ratting out neighbours?
I don't shower daily, unless I have something where I have to. Generally it's every two or three days. So unless you're sweating and grimy or work in a manure factory (or equivalent) there's not a lot of good it does.
Has there been 911 calls with people ratting out neighbours?
Thankfully, no. But I have several friends in Bylaw, and they are getting slammed with neighbors ratting out each other.
One mentioned to me that he'd gotten a call because the person calling saw someone filling a water can from a rain barrel, and then watering some sod with the can. The person calling felt that the water in the rain barrel was being wasted...

We should be fining people for making such stupid calls and wasting public resources. Send them a bill of $50 for this ridiculousness.

How are y'all saving the shower water while waiting for it to warm up? That's like the greatest pure waste that I see. Giant funnel and into a tub?
Warm water is for wusses. 30 seconds cold. Soap Up. 60 second rinse. Walk out naked to lawn and shake like a dog give the lawn a few drips. But no more, because I'm not coddling that ##### ass grass.

Old plastic slurpee cup under the faucet and a larger bucket beside the shower to dump it into. When the bucket gets full I empty it into one of the rain barrels.

If you're that worried about it put a bucket in the shower to catch some of the first cold water. Or just realize that we aren't going for zero waste, so maybe instead of waiting for it to be the perfect temp get in a little early and be about chilly for the first part so you waste a little less.
