Almost as if the Flames have a history of making average goaltenders look like HOFer's.

Wow. Not taking it for granted. I’ve been on this board since the season when they made it to the finals last time (18 years ago)and endured the decade of darkness and no playoffs for 10 years.
Dallas is a solid team but I always thought we had a chance due to the top end talent. Whistles were put away for the most part of series. Powerplays I believe were 14 to 11 for Dallas in 6 games.

I don't think the Kings are the same as those others. They didn't have an extended tank and a lot of their key pieces were not top 5 picks. The only one that was is Drew Doughty. But the other elite piece (Kopitar) was #11.
Hawks, Pens, Avs - all built their cores around really high picks. The Kings didn't.

I won't torture you guys by posting it but the monster truck call during the last minute came up on my twitter feed and it was hard to listen too. But it was more the comments that got me.

No one comes close to you Jack, the best play by play announcer in the NHL, it’s a shame they don’t have you doing the TV broadcasts.

Twice these scumbags won off power play goals and no penalties called afterwards, and ended up with 10 shots on net.
Something is fishy.

That's the number one thing that would make me move to a foreign country where they've never heard of hockey. If Jack Michaels took over for Cuthbert.

The Kings are an outlier as they were never a regular season powerhouse and snuck into the playoffs as bottom seeds for their two cup wins. Basically the Eli Manning NY Giants. Once Darryl squeezed them dry they were pretty well finished after their cups. They were more right time and place than what I would consider a blueprint for winning a cup.

They had a lot of 1st round picks on that team.
Kopitar
Williams
Richards
Carter
Doughty
Brown
Johnson

They used their own 1st round picks to get those guys as well.
Williams is a great pick up.

Barkov's hard matchups in the first three Florida series:
Kucherov- 0 goals
Pasternak - 1 goal
Panarin - 1 goal
Hopefully he can keep it up this series. Plus, June 1 kicked off hurricane season in Florida so any Greaser fans traveling to the series hopefully get stuck in airports en route and don't have access to wifi to watch the games they overpaid for.

Yes we are saying the same thing. I don't think they are a blueprint, but they are certainly not the same as those extended tank teams.
Kopitar was the pick that changed it all.

Yup, 14 to 11. Edmonton cleaned their game up after game 1, where they had 5 penalties called. After game 1 penalties were 10 for Dallas and 9 for Edmonton. So in the last 5 games, one of the least penalized teams in the NHL during the regular season took 10 penalties in 5 games and one of the most penalized during the regular season took 9.

Or all that whining to the league after game 1 worked. They still committed infractions. They just got away with it.

So the media and the team crying about penalties got them off the hook. Unbelievable.

The Oilers interfere almost every shift.
Positionally their defense has been good, but a significant part of it has been due to the constant interference. No wonder an "anything goes" approach would work for a team.
The good thing is the Panthers will gladly walk the same line.
