Yes, bike lanes drive me insane. If it was a normal traffic lane I would agree with you but bike lanes should be relegated to the sidewalks and subject to pedestrian rules.

Not downtown though, where it happened. It gets clogged enough with traffic, plus all the never-ending construction (which will be even worse, now with the new arena). I wish more people took alternative transit downtown.
Frankly I just wish more scooters / bikers knew where the actual bike lanes are, it's a great system once you figure it out. Drives me nuts when I see a scooter tearing down a pedestrian-filled sidewalk when literally ONE block over are the bike lanes.
It sucks how many of the worst drivers on the road do it for a living.
Not making any excuses for the driver involved in the incident being discussed but you can make a case that since they spend their days driving all around the city that the odds of them getting into an accident are far greater than people commuting for an hour or less a day. I just think the current state of driving right now is just so poor that I find it hard to believe that delivery drivers are worse than the masses as these people lose their jobs if they are getting into too many accidents or people start calling their employers for being a dick on the road.

That's the thing though, those bike lanes a block over aren't on the desire lines. City is stupid to not put them in spots like 17th avenue, and instead wimp out and go to 15th or something. Doesn't excuse tearing down a packed sidewalk on a scooter though, but does speak to the fact that the lanes should be where people want to be.

The city needs to finish the bike lanes. That fifth doesn’t go all the way to elbow is stupid. They add the bike lanes on second?? I think but they don’t go anywhere. If you want people to use them they need to be useable.
Judging by the amount of ebikes out there with fat tires they won't feel a thing...
