this made me think of my parents planning when they bought their very first house, moving from an apartment in mississauga to guelph (ontario).
the "city's official plan" was to build a school at the end of the street, so my parents figured it was the perfect location to raise 3 kids. (my brother was 3, i was 1 and my mom was pregnant with my sister)
my parents bought that house in 1974
my parents sold that house in 1986 and we moved to bc
the school was finally built in 1991
Now THAT is long walk.

The people we had hired to do dinosaur themed activities for my kids 7th birthday this weekend bailed. He's super into dinosaurs, and told all his friends they are doing dinosaur activities.
Today we get a call that the person had an emergency and can't do it. But if we want their regular party we can have that at full price.
Funnily enough, none of the materials for the specific dinosaur activities we paid for are available either (we asked so we could just buy them and run it ourselves) and there is someone available for their regular party. Sort of feels like they decided they didn't feel like honoring the custom order and knew if they waited until the last minute it'd be too late to find someone else.
Name and shame these #######s to save others here your pain.

I legitimately hate how bad the NHL's quality of video is. I mean, this looks like it might be a saucer pass - in which case it's easily the pass of the year so far and will be hard to top - but it might be more of a lob, in which case it's merely amazing. But I legitimately cannot tell because the video quality is so poor.
Why can't the NHL / Sportsnet post highlights in at least uncompressed 1080p? I mean, it should absolutely be 4k by now but obviously we can't expect that level of competence from this league.
Just grinds my gears how utterly mediocre everything about this product is.

The quality of the betting and gambling advertising is second to none, though.
Of all professional sports leagues the NHL benefits the most from high resolution broadcasts so it's disappointing in 2022 that the quality of NHL broadcasts haven't improved in over a decade in Canada.
They really need to bring back that neon puck tracing thing they had for a while.
It almost pains me to say it, but I agree. I can't see #### anymore. It helps to know how to follow the play, but I miss so much being unable to see the puck.
I wonder if the technology exists to have the user be able to turn the Star Wars puck on and off from home?

Buy a bigger TV, you can sit real close to the new flat screens.

Some psycho in my community filed a dog bark complaint against us after visiting our home last month to complain. He claimed our dog was barking starting at 6:30 in the morning all day, we tried to explain that no one at a house is up until 7:00 and that our dog is not the one he's hearing. Some people are just jerks. Bylaw officer was super nice tho.
It is the anniversary of a co-worker being murdered.
I found out that someone I knew (not what I would call a friend, but had a wife and kids) killed himself.
Brutal for sure. Mental health/illness and crappy life situations affect everyone well after an “event” occurs. Still lots of people dealing with issues that were heightened during CoVID.
