I'm not far into it yet but wow. Im absolutely loving it! I do agree the HUD is kinda small but that was one of my few gripes about the first game too.
The winter wonderland is just epic. Having a blast with this game!

I'm surprised few people have an issue with the incredibly clunky controls. The game feels like GTA IV, only more restricted. Walking, running, riding are all so slow, and it feels like I'm trying to steer or turn a series of ocean liners. Your complaint is a perfect example of the frustrations I have just controlling my character.
And I started getting used to the micromanagement RPG style it's trying to pull off with games like Fallout, but this takes it to a bit of an extreme. For every 1 minute you spend engaging the story, you will spend 5-10 just riding and trying to manage your cores, your horse, the camp, and so forth. It's all really neat and super detailed, but the novelty wore off a couple hours into the game and now just feels tedious. I dread having to deal with it over a 60 to 80 hour story experience, especially with that god awful satchel menu.
I'm definitely going to give it more of a chance, but right now it feels like I'm working towards completing it rather than having fun playing and getting lost in the world they created.
I really want to love this game, but I'm not close to being there yet.

I'm struggling with the controls, mostly because I'm not a big console player. I also have a hard time reading the minimap and the inventory system is annoying.
But I'm still loving the game. I'm a little overwhelmed by all the stuff to do, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as a fan of open-world games. I imagine I'll easily be putting hundreds of hours into this game.

Does the PS4 Pro version run smoother at 1080p? Can anyone comment?
I watched the Digital Foundry video comparison between systems, but they did not answer this specific question.
I've got a One X in the house, but I'd have to compete with my kids for access to that one.

I've been playing it on a PS4 Pro and haven't noticed any issues in 4k. What are they saying the problems are and I can look out for them.

Not problems per say; PS4p renders a checkerboard as it can't quite handle rendering at true 4k. The XBO-X has some extra oomph and outputs a true 4k.
I don't game on my 4k TV. So I will run it at 1080p. Some games that support PS4p give you an option; 4k @ 30fps or 1080p @ 60fps. I'm hoping for something like that.

Just an FYI if you upgrade your camp at the ledger beside the donation box (Dutch’s tent and your tent) you unlock fast travel.

Your horse will do this if you change the camera to "cinematic" while you're out riding. On the PS4 this is the touchpad. Hold it down for a bit and it'll switch. Now you don't have to point the joystick anymore, though I think you do still need to hold down X.
Edit: you don’t need to hold X. You just get your horse up to speed and then switch to cinematic and let it go. Pretty amazing to watch the scenery roll by.
I'm finding the more I play it the faster I'm getting with the wheel menus (L1) I find it wayyy easier than digging through the satchel for anything.
The pace did take me a bit to get used to, particularly coming from Spider Man and Horizon Zero Dawn. The relatively slow speed everything happens at was frustrating at first, but once I got into the mindset that the game is supposed to be played at a slow pace I really found myself getting into it.

Anyone else find annoying when theres a bounty on you for some dumb mistake. Riding into town and run overcome random guy. Now theres a bounty on me, and shoot some guys chasing me. $500 bounty, and money is already tight.
I tried donating all my money to the camp, and going into town to surrender myself, but theres still a bounty out for me. Guess I'll just have to pay it... argh!

I think you can expand it by pressing one of the trigger buttons, I stumbled across that last night but have zero idea what I clicked to prompt it.

The saloon drinking night is one of the most entertaining missions I have ever played in a video game.

On the Xbox One if you hold the Down button on the directional pad it brings up the HUD and Radar options. From there you can choose to have an Expanded Radar/HUD (basically just larger), or even take off the compass.
Probably similar on PS4.

Sold my console a few months ago but couldn't resist and got one again just because the reviews were so strong for this lol. First couple hours of play and it's hard not be ridiculously impressed, almost feels like something that should be next gen. Love the pacing and how the early stages are setting up the mechanics, world and characters for you. I don't think I've even scratched the surface yet but it seems like it'll be great. It always feels like the medium is being pushed forward when Rockstar releases a game.

I'm on the PS4 Pro and did notice the image to be slightly washed out with HDR on. Not sure if its common or just my personal preference, but to me it looks better when I turn HDR off in the game settings.
Overall the game looks incredible though, I don't think anyone will be upset if they have PS4 Pro.

Now that I'm used to the controls I'm not sure I have a single complaint about this game.
Work sucks. I just wanna go play

Same here, I haven't been this addicted to game in a long long time.
Played pretty much all weekend and still feel like I haven't even scratched the surface of a lot of aspects of the game. There's just so much to do and the level of detail in everything is insane.

The game is pretty cool, very cinematic and esthetically pleasing. However, I fell asleep twice! while playing lol Both on the same damn mission where you drive the wagon to the second camp. Each time I rode off the road and tipped the damn wagon. Restart mission, fall asleep in the exact same place.
Other than that, great game so far!
