Puljujarvi can be an effective player, but limited upside.
Strengths:
Size
Speed
Weaknesses:
IQ
IQ
IQ
Passing
He is Jokinen, except Jokinen had a better shot. Jokinen was forced-fed prime opportunities in Florida to work on his shot, but he wasn't a very dynamic player at all, thanks to what ended up looking like a lower than average IQ.
People still have a distaste for Jokinen because the Flames got him as a #1 centre, and he was really only a checking centre. Jokinen was still valuable to the Flames at the time for what he was able to provide outside of scoring. I think Puljujarvi can be similarly effective. Put him on a checking line, and give him instructions and targets every shift, and I bet he would thrive.
Now, keep in mind, he is not dynamic. He is big, and he is fast, and that's about it. I think he can make a very good checking type of player who - if the coach can get him to drive the net regularly enough - can have produce well enough as a checker. That's about it though.
If you acquire him thinking he is going to be a complimentary player for a scoring line, you will be disappointed. Jokinen was able to do that because he had a really good shot for a while, otherwise, Jokinen is an excellent comparable here - big, fast, questionable IQ, no dynamic ability to his game really, but can be effective.

Same, just thought they would be less likely to move Wahlstrom.

Would be unbelievable. I would certainly love it for the Oilers meltdown that would ensue.
I personally do not want to flip Lucic to them for Folgino or take on the extra year of Smith.
I wonder if if this would just be a cap dump for the Flames? Send Lucic to Boston with Arizona eating 50% of the cap and Boston sends something back to the Yotes. Flames could maybe sign Kadri if that is the case?

isnt boston currently like 2.5 mil over cap?
Even if they took only 50% looch salary through an intermediary, they'd still need to ship out ~ 5 mil or slightly more.
Coyle?

I have heard some mention a swap for Folgino or Smith with the bruins and that doesn’t really excite me. Smith would be okay but has an extra year on his deal which I wouldn’t want as I think flexibility next year is key

Could maybe see a Lucic for Smith deal
Smith has only a year left on his deal. UFA in 2023.

Smith is a UFA at the end of this coming season.

Lucic is grossly overpaid from a cap hit perspective but is also valuable from a team toughness standpoint (which already took a hit with Gudbransen heading to CBJ)

And his very minimal actual salary is valuable if a team has a spot for him.

Treliving's been watching all of these Bruins reunion parties and knows that it's the perfect time to strike lol
I thought someone on here said that Looch was pissed that the Flames were trying to trade him and that's why he didn't show up that the Stampede parade. If that was true (I don't think it is) I think this is the one trade destination that would leave everyone happy.

Lucic is one of my favourite Flames, and as good as he's been as a Flame his effectiveness is not going to last much longer.
He seems like a strong leader on this team though and obviously fills an important role, especially after losing Gudbranson. Swapping him for a more effective offensive player, or freeing up his money for a better player would be pretty great though.

Sounds like McAvoy, Grzelcyk and Marchand are out till at least November, so they could have some LTIR room, they could also be looking at a defenseman.

I can't see how the Bruins, who are already over the cap, can take on Lucic without sending the equivalent amount of cap back. The minimal salary doesn't really entice Boston, as they have cap issues, not money problems.
