Was curious where each team sits regarding fans in the building. Most US teams, outside of California, are allowed fans in the building ranging from several hundred to 25% capacity.

https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2021/03/15...ome-back-fans/

Also found this article with the plans for MLB opening day. Most stadiums will be in the 20- 25% range.

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/m...coming-season/

Colorado I find interesting. Still lot permitting fans for hockey but they have they look to be the most aggressive state for MLB permitting 43% attendance.

Texas Rangers allowing full capacity for season opener but then scaling back after that...

Wresltlemainia will see 25,000 (36%) each day in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

Recently got a call from the flames about my season tickets. Among some other things, they had a a few questions about likelihood of attending games with reduced capacity and other measures. Sounds like they are trying to gauge interest for the STH.

The Avs just sent me an email this morning indicating that starting April 2 they will allow 4050 fans for hockey and basketball games. Approximately 22% of capacity.

How will the playoffs work when a Canadian team plays an American one?

Coaches will face off against each other on NHL 2021 (I hope green text is not necessary here)

They are working on temporary plans for the Canadian team in the conference final to play out of one of the nearest US cities.

I think they are hoping that by the time they reach the semi finals, when the Canadian and American teams meet, that cross border travel will be allowed or that they can get an exemption from the Canadian government. The first two rounds will be all Canadian play so that won't be an issue for travel.

Yeah, the Conference Finals won't be until mid-late June. Hopefully, cross border travel rules will be relaxed by then.

So the Bruins entire team has been put into protocol and have cancelled games until at least next Thursday.

I wonder. Certainly hope so, but also seems likely the US teams will have a healthy home ice advantage with fans in their buildings.

The rules would have to be totally relaxed with zero quarantine requirements for it to work.

That Flames game likely gets pushed back to a 5pm start tomorrow. Can they make it a National game? TSN has the Sens rights so moving the game might not be so easy?

Habs can just forfeit the season

Imagine a scenario where the Habs are 4 points back of the Flames but have 3 make up games with the Oilers tacked on to the end of the season. Oilers throw the games?

I think this season will be determined on points percentage...much like the AHL. I don't think they will make two teams play out the games while the rest of the division sits and waits. This is another problem with chasing as opposed to defending a playoff spot this season.

They will try very hard to get all games in...points percentage could be very controversial

there is already an open week before the playoffs

Could knock out 4 games in three days...wouldn't be surprised if the playoffs were pushed back a bit

The Flames-Senators will remain a regional game and will go on as scheduled at 1500h Mountain. Sportsnet will now show the Sabres-Penguins game, NBCSN simulcast at 1800h.

If it comes to this they should run a gauntlet in each division:

6v5. Winner plays 4 the next night; winner of that is the 4 seed.

Right now it would be:

CBJ vs. DAL --> vs. CHI

NYR vs. PHI --> vs. PIT

VAN vs. CGY --> vs. MTL

ARI vs. LAK --> vs. STL

The North/West currently have a pretty distinct 4, but 4th is a lot tighter in the other two divisions.

I prefer another play-in where the Oilers lose to a 12th seed.
