He's a hell of a lot better than Mark Cundari was. So this trade is already better than the Bouwmeester trade. If he becomes a 4-5 defenceman, that would be a nice bonus. Adrian Aucoin was not a very swift skater either but hung around the league for 1100 games. So taller guy who's not quick with a big shot. But seems to be pretty coach able.
If you get 1/3 of that from Miromanov that's an excellent supplementary acquisition from the Hanifin deal.

Probably a tweener. Best outlook is a bottom pairing player. Will be a good fill in for the next couple of seasons.

Sorry, don't see much more in him. He is good offensively and not good defensively.
He has great offensive talent but I don't think he is good enough to be a top 4. If he gets better defensively then I'd say he could be a 5 or 6 in the future.
|
I mean, except that the numbers prove out he is actually pretty good defensively and played extremely well in the top 4....

Currently he's a serviceable 3rd pairing D man. But also isn't the finished article IMO, still plenty of time to develop in his relatively young career especially now he's getting his first real opportunity in an NHL roster.

Danil is the answer to a trivia question in about 5 years.
He’s not an NHLer. Maybe with a training camp under his belt he could be a 5-6 but I’m having a hard time seeing it.
Maybe he should switch to winger.

I see him as a PP specialist who is average defensively. He has a great shot and moves the puck up ice very well but has to work on defending in his own zone. Ideally right now he is a bottom pairing guy who could elevate higher depending on the work he puts into his defensive game.

On a playoff team, he is bottom pairing or 7th dman with occasional PP time
On a lottery team, he gets 1st PP time and top 4

Seems quite poised with offensive upside but he lacks foot speed and will get exposed.
Not quite enough offense to be a top PP guy though. Hes kind of caught in no mans land.

This thread reminds me of the thread asking what Giordano was - the majority of people believing he was a 5-6 guy, because it is difficult to imagine what a player can be, when they aren't that yet.
Players do improve sometimes. And Miromanov seems like a pretty good bet to continue to improve, based on his attitude, his raw skills, and his lack of games over the past couple seasons.
Total games played:
19/20: 0
20/21: 64
21/22: 64
22/23: 45
23/24: 29
For the last few years, all he has been doing is recovering from injuries. Now that he is healthy, it will be interesting to see how much he can grow his game. Because, again, the raw tools are there.

Nothing about Danil reminds me of Giordano or the Giordano thread.
And I was super bullish on Gio before he popped. It seemed obvious he was going to be a very good defender. Maybe not as good as eventually turned out. I don’t think anyone said ‘Norris winner.’
I’m seeing a completely one dimensional player in Danil so far. I’d love to be wrong though!

Yes, this is what he is. He is fine on our top 4 as a team without playoffs aspirations.
But he isn't a guy you'd want in your top 4 if you are a playoff team. He is probably a depth guy, and number 7 who can fill in.

No offence to Weegar as I love the package he brings but Miromanov’s skating and ability to rush the puck with composure are both a level above.

Hmmmmm. I think you’re being a little too optimistic. Third best maybe.

The numbers also show he's getting relatively protected minutes/matchups. Similar to Kylington in that regard, only more so. After Weegar and Andersson, Huska is giving Pachal and Hanley the difficult defensive assignments. Huska also doesn't seem to trust Okhotiuk defensively, which doesn't bode well for him as he has no offensive tools to speak of. But thought he had some solid games defensively.
