Still went 11th overall, so at least some scouts saw the potential

Rockets' Iginla named WHL’s best of the week
After recording nine points, including a game-winning goal in Prince Albert, Tij Iginla has been named the WHL player of the week.
Iginla helped the Rockets to a 3-1 record last week, closing out their Eastern Conference road trip on a winning note.

Tij Iginla will head to the Maritimes to participate in CHL Top Prospects Game
Kelowna Rockets forward Tij Iginla will get an extra opportunity to impress NHL scouts in the new year.
The Lake Country product who is enjoying a fruitful first year with his hometown WHL club has been invited to the CHL Top Prospects Game.
The annual showcase of draft-eligible CHL players will be held in Moncton, NB, on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
...
The 17-year-old was initially rated as a ‘B’ prospect by NHL Central Scouting in October, but his impressive first half of the season has seen that rating bumped up to an ‘A’.
It’s almost a certainty that he will hear his name called by an NHL club next summer and now the question is whether he will end up as a first-round pick.

Iginla leads list of 40 players selected for 2024 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game
Iginla (6-foot, 186 pounds), a forward with Kelowna of the WHL, has 42 points (25 goals, 17 assists) in 32 games. The 17-year-old is second on Kelowna in scoring and sixth among WHL players in goals.
"He's a dynamic offensive player and has speed and quickness that makes a difference and possesses natural offensive instincts and finishing ability," Central Scouting vice president Dan Marr said. "He's a player you can't keep your eyes off when he's on the ice."
Iginla is one of 14 players participating in the game who received an A rating from Central Scouting in its November players to watch list.

Man oh man, we need to draft him. I don't know that I can handle 20 years of headlines about an Iggy playing somewhere else. It just doesn't seem right.

Just imagine a few years from now... Tij Iginla is the Captain, playing on the left side. Joe Iginla playing on the right side. Zary is their center. We've got Pelletier, Pospisil and Sharangovich. Coronato and Stromgren. We still have Andersson and Weegar, but also Poirier and Solovyov (who's evolved into a top-4). Wolf in the starter's net...
I'm just saying... that's a timeline I could get behind.
Edit: Not to mention whomever we've drafted along the way.
Edit: Holy... I completely forgot about Honzek. We've got some legitimate NHLers coming along in our system already. It's like the next entire core of our franchise has already formed, and we really just need to tweak it here and there.

Going to see Iginla live on the 27th. Looking forward to seeing him play. I'll wear my Iginla jersey for the occasion, and get you guys a game report. He should have lots of opportunity to pad his stats vs the Blazers, lol.

So? According to you, the Flames have always been screwed, no matter what happens.

Nope that isn't true at all.
I have said since I have been here they are in a good position to go into a rebuild and add much needed high end talent.
No need to make things up.

Yeah, you'll have to forgive me for not putting a lof of faith in what a Spurs fan thinks lol.
A team of arrogant, highly unlikeable and cheaty little pricks who won a bunch of championships on the shoulders of a generational center. With a commissioner and media that was completely in love with them... this is starting to sound familiar...

Yeah, this whole time I thought you were a San Antonio Spurs fan. Which (to me, at least) is the equivalent of being an Oilers fan. Whoops.

Feel like being a Bulls fan is way more like being an Oilers fan TBH.
Won a bunch of titles when you had the best player of all time, have mostly toiled in mediocrity since but still have an insufferable fan base that won't shut up about those teams 20+ years ago.
