Not a shot at you but in general this is kinda unfair.

Teams that are eliminated can release players/go over the cap and sign guys like this.

I had a guy I wanted to sign the other day but I didn't have any cap room or room in the minors so I couldn't it.

Maybe a tweak as in no one can sign any UFAs or something like that.

I suppose but in this case I have the room in the AHL and did so prior to releasing a couple guys off my CPHL squad.

Nothing stopping you from releasing a guy in your AHL to clear room for a guy you like more.

I suppose we could create a rule that you can only sign free agents once your season is done if you have the roster and cap space to do so.

Happy to do that if this is perceived to be an issue.

There are a lot of advantages that you have if you're in the playoffs in most aspects of the game. This is one of the few that allows teams that are out to have a slight advantage (which is very slight because 90+% of these guys suck and won't make the NHL)

If you're in the playoffs, you should have to maintain your rosters. If you want a prospect really bad, make sure you can buy someone else out first. Everyone else shouldn't have to be forced to keep their rosters legit if they aren't playing as they are in off season mode.
