I still regard Wtf happened to Dion as one of the greatest hockey mysteries ever. Literally two different players.

Never a great skater and the hip injury made it worse. Plus, I think his personality in the room caught up with him.

Not that I would fault him if that was part of the root cause

Maybe that explains why Giordano is seemingly aging backwards...

Meant to be funny, but too far. Grumble grumble. We all know the Frump is an Oiler fan. Giant DB cheering for the dude bro-iest team of dude-bros they ever did assemble.

Celebrated Square Root Day

That's a poorly executed but purposeful hit. You started to see it a lot in the mid-2000's. It's a fake hit that weaker players employ when they're asked to be more physical and finish checks.
Basically if you're a wuss you go in and push your arms out and barely graze the player while making you're stick and rest of your body hit the boards and glass behind and beside the guy. Makes a huge racket like something big just happened but you don't have to actually make a real hit.

One of my all time favourite Flames images is the overhead camera of Freddie Brathwaite on his stomach, fully extended, pulling the puck off the goal line with his stick. I always wished there was an HD photo of this moment... maybe I’ll have to get someone to paint it for me!
