Sharks @ Flames. 7pm MT. SN1
The two top teams in the Pacific division play tonight. A win tonight could give the Flames more separation for 1st place in the division and guarantee home ice in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.
Tonight is also the 3000th NHL regular season game for the Calgary Flames according to Hockey reference
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
David Rittich gets the start in net tonight vs. San Jose. #Flames

As the Flames and Sharks entered their last meeting, the standings were as follows:
Code:
1. Winnipeg 38 GP = 50 pts
2. Calgary 39 GP = 50 pts
3. Vegas 42 GP = 50 pts
4. San Jose 40 GP = 49 pts
5. Nashville 40 GP = 48 pts
Entering tonight's game they are:
Code:
1. Calgary 53 GP = 73 pts (+23 pts in 14 games)
2. Winnipeg 53 GP = 71 pts (+21 pts in 15 games)
3. San Jose 54 GP = 69 pts (+20 pts in 14 games)
4. Nashville 55 GP = 68 pts (+20 pts in 15 games)
5. Vegas 55 GP = 64 pts (+14 pts in 13 games)
Shows how dominant the Flames have been, how tight the race is still, and how much Vegas has fallen off.

Optional morning skate for first-place #Flames before tonight’s big Pacific Division showdown with second-place #Sharks. Johnny Gaudreau and Dalton Prout on the ice after missing practice yesterday. David Rittich will get the start in goal. #SJSvsCGY

Super important to win. Hopefully Kane can get suckered into some dumb penalties.
Settling scores is secondary to actually getting that extra 2 point cushion in the standings. We want Minny, Colorado, or St Louis in the first round as opposed to one of the 5 really good teams in the West

Still no EK for the Sharks. Hopefully the Flames can take advantage.

Expecting a playoff style match-up. Tight checking, heavy hitting, with special teams play deciding the game. Hopefully Hamonic can go tonight as I think these are the types of games where he's really needed. Someone needs to channel their inner playoff Sarich on Marleau and clobber Kane early. Flames win a close one 3-2.

Should be an interesting one. If Kane is running around trying to hit and fight guys that's probably to his team's detriment. I'm guessing we get Jones, who struggled before the break but has put together back to back wins since. Too bad because it would be nice to put another 8 past Dell.
2-1 Flames. GFG!

Looks like no Hamonic tonight
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Travis Hamonic skated late this morning, which is usually an indicator of being scratched. He’s officially a game time decision, though.
If Hamonic can’t play, Dalton Prout will draw in again. #Flames

Sharks have 7 players over 40 pts. That's pretty incredible offensive depth. No other team with more than 5 i believe.

Should be a fun game. Did Karlsson make it up to Calgary, or is he still missing?

Tonight's projected lines and pairings are speculative, as the team held an optional skate this morning, and are based upon this week's practices and Sunday's game.
NOTE: Travis Hamonic, who left the game in Washington with a lower body injury, has skated this week. His status for this evening's game will be determined this afternoon. If he is unable to play, Dalton Prout and Rinat Valiev are options on the back-end.
