Default Bob Einstein (Super Dave/Marty Funkhouser) dead at 76

Not a great day for children of the late 80's/early 90's with Mean Gene passing away as well.

Saw him live in the Tonight Show back in '96. Might have to dig out that vcr tape.

Can't find a video, but I was sitting just off to the left behind the camera. It was Halloween so Cindy Crawford was dressed as Marilyn Monroe. Kevin Bacon was also on. Classic '90's cast!

I loved Super Dave, I remember him appearing on John Byners Bizarre back in the 80's.

Great funny sketch comedy show, with Super Dave as the highlight

Just been rewarching all of Curb over the holidays - great character. Also loved Super Dave as a kid. Sad.

Uh, no. Super Dave was himself, Kevin Bacon was himself as well, I think.

RIP Super.

Also, way offside, but I nearly did a spit take when he told that joke to Jerry on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

NSFW!

I loved Super Dave Osborne growing up, and my username obviously gives away that I am a HUGE Curb your enthusiasm fan. Loved the scenes of Marty Funkhouser and Larry David. The show is going to miss him. They recently filmed some of season 10 (not sure if they finished or not), I hope that we get to see some of Bob Einstein when the season is released. RIP Bob.

Here's one of my favourite scene's with LD and Marty:

The Super Dave spots on Bizarre were the best part of the show. Always looked forward to an episode where there was going to be a sketch.

As an aside, was his brother birth name actually “Albert Einstein”?

Yes. He changed it to Albert Brooks when he started acting.

This is a real shame. A comedy legend.

He did two episodes of Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” show. One of the only ones to get a second episode.

Don’t forget his work as the surrogate father on Arrested Development. Some classic comedy gold with his deadpan delivery.
