Default Who is America?

This show is ####ing brilliant so I think it needs its own thread.

The Roy Moore segment was outstanding. Just an amazing troll job.

The segment today where the men go undercover was amazing I was losing it. When the cops showed up I was tapping out.

I wish we could see the cops faces because the moment that guy lifted up the dress and revealed his fake vagina was priceless.

That was legitimately one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen on TV. Was it me or did it seem like the guy was enjoying his Mexican girl costume?

The freestyle rap scene was pretty awesome too.

Goddamn. I really want to know how that encounter with the cops ended.

That would have been a helluva report narrative to write.

Wow episode 3 was ridiculous! I didn't think the Roy Moore bit could be topped but that quinceanera came close.

One of the craziest people on the show was the lady who owns the art gallery. She was legit interested in the paintings he did with poo and was more than willing to give him some of her pubes for a paint brush like Wat da F who does that.

I watched the first episode, forced a laugh once or twice.

If this show is funny or provocative in some sense, I guess I don't see it. Just Baron Cohen cranking up the ridiculous and sorta-not-really 'fooling' people.

The second episode was far better than the first. The third had great moments as well. I guess what I mean to say is that it gets better.

You also have to be into SBC comedy.

Pretty much every one of his characters is based upon putting regular people into ridiculous situations and seeing how they will react. The comedy comes from getting people (often famous) to take part in the ridiculous (often offensive) things he says or does.

Some situations are awkward and embarrassing, while some are flat out hilarious for exposing the stupidity and ignorance of the average person.

For example, this is one of the best ever Ali G skits where he wasn't malicious, just dumb. And god bless that vet and his patience.

And then there was Bruno. The movie sucked but the clips from the Ali G show were some of his best. The shallow idiotic crap these people in the fashion industry would say was unbelievable. I can't find any good clips online but it was amazing.

The problem is that it all seems fake. They play along because they know who he is. The art gallery lady and her pubes was just flat dumb, although she is a great sport for playing along and going to those ridiculous lengths.

But why is that on TV? Who finds that interesting or funny?

Same with the conservatives at the dinner table. Great sports that played along, but it was phony with no pay-off.

Maybe you're right and I'm just not a SBC fan. The only project of his I found funny was Borat, but both times I watched it I was baked out of my skull.

I had the same kind of feeling after the first episode and it wasn’t his best work. In all honesty you need the right reaction from people to pull it off. The second episode has that and the third to some extent. The first was just not as good because there were the art lady and conservative couple who were too willing and didn’t take the bait respectively.

See, I don't find that funny, just cruel. There was a time in my life when I thought rubbing peoples' noses in the #### and idiocy of the world was funny. I don't anymore.

I can't even watch Nathan For You because I feel bad for the people he's screwing over.

You feel bad for Roy Moore, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney?

Are Roy Moore, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney on Nathan for You? I feel bad for the average people he and Cohen jerk around and ridicule - you know, the stupid and ignorant ones.

There's something arrogant, cruel, and misanthropic about that style of comedy. I just don't find contempt to be a very funny.

I usually don't like comedy that punches down - where the participants are not on a level playing field and not in on the joke. About as funny as Gerry Forbes calling someone while pretending to be someone else.
