That's a real rough one. Up by 3, you gotta win that one.

Individually a nice game for Juuso. Bright future ahead.

Valimaki finishes the playoffs with 17pts in 12 games and a +10. Not a bad run.

Gawdin lead the Broncos to a 3-2 OT victory where he scored a hat-trick! 3G, +3, 8 shots and first star. Not a bad night.

Gawdin opened the scoring with a wrist-shot on the right wing to beat Hart. Then, while down 2-1 in the third, Gawdin tied it with a short-handed tally where he put home his own rebound. On his OT goal he scored on another wrist shot in the slot off a nice pass from his teammate.

Broncos lead the series 2-1.

Gawdin is smart. I was at Game 3 and he didn't blow me away with his speed or anything like that, but he just seems to find himself in the right spot all the time.

I'll be at Games 4 and 5 as well...hoping for more Gawdin highlights but also Everett wins.

The next game is Swift Current @ Everett Friday, May 11 7:35pm

Everett lives to see another day. SC drops game 5 to Everett by a score of 5-3. Gawdin with 2G and a 2nd star in the loss though. Gawdin had 6 of SC's 16 shots tonight.

Series is now 3-2 for the Broncos. Game 6 goes Sunday.

Its official, Gawdin will Captain the Swift Current Broncos in the Memorial Cup.

SC beat Everett 3-0 to win the series 4 games to 2. Gawdin had 1A. Stuart Skinner with the clutch Shutout. Cool for them to win it at home too.

Quote:
The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Calgary Flames prospect Glenn Gawdin of the Swift Current Broncos is the CHL Player of the Week for the playoff week ending May 13 scoring five goals and one assist for six points in four games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.

Gawdin led the Broncos to victory in the Rogers WHL Championship Series hoisting the Ed Chynoweth Cup on home ice following a six-game win over the Everett Silvertips. His performance during the final week included a Game 3 hat-trick on Tuesday night as first star of a 3-2 overtime decision that gave the Broncos a 2-1 series edge. Swift Current would win Game 4 by a 1-0 score on Wednesday, but a two-goal effort from the captain and second star honours in Friday’s Game 5 fell short in the 6-3 setback to Everett. With a chance to wrap things up at home in Sunday’s Game 6, the Broncos delivered a 3-0 win with Gawdin tallying an assist as first star followed by WHL Playoff MVP accolades in the club’s first championship title since 1993. The Broncos have advanced to the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup and hit the ice on Saturday against the QMJHL champion Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

A 21-year-old from Richmond, BC, Gawdin spent his entire five-year WHL career with the Broncos after being selected by the club in the first round of the 2012 Bantam Draft. He led the team in playoff scoring with 32 points in 24 games notching 14 goals and 18 assists after setting career-highs during regular season play with 56 goals and 69 assists for 125 points in 67 games. Gawdin signed an entry-level contract with the Flames as a Free Agent in November, 2017.

He was fun to watch through that series; that first line was the best line I saw in Juniors this year (I went to almost all Everett's home games this season).

But Gawdin - smart, pretty solid wrist shot, and decent speed - but the instincts were the thing. He always seemed to know where to be and the game moved around him. I'll be interested to see what he can do at the next level.

That's good to hear. The decent speed and good insticts/high hockey IQ can turn a tweener into a bottom 6 guy. Here's to hoping we found a diamond in the roigh.

SC loses 4-3 to Acadie-Bathurst, Gawdin had 0 pts and was a -4. I did not watch the game so I cannot comment on how he played but not a flattering stat line.

I watched the game. First time seeing him on tv. He didn't look like a very good skater. Too slow to keep up to some of the quick Titan players.

SC is in trouble, needing to win tonght to avoid elimination in the Memorial Cup.

They went down 2-0 to Regina but Gawdin just snuck a wrister through the Pats' goalie and now it's 2-1 about halfway through the 2nd.
