I'm a recent alumni from the UofC and I hate not having a gym membership. I'm wondering what the cost at a normal gym is, the UofC has a deal for $220 for a year and I'm not sure if that's worth it or how much they generally cost. Hate the letharging feeling sitting around and working out at home just isn't even close to the same.

If the $220 gives you the same access as a student then it is a great deal.
Do they still have the coloured wrist bands? When I was in school myself and a bunch of other guys from my club "found" a number of different bands. We ended up having 2-3 of each colour. This came in handy when I left school, but still wanted to use the facility.

Around 50/month is generally what you'll pay for a lot of the bigger gyms in the city- plus a $100 or so "enrollment" fee. Some cheaper, some more, but that seems to be a common price. Most also start on a 1yr plan.
That 220 is a good deal, but of course there are parking fees at u of c.
Ok that's good to know thanks guys. I usually park at the free after 6 parking that's 2 blocks away and go during Flames games and watch while working out, miss the routine and the healthy feeling it gave. Cheers.
Goodlife is around $23 biweekly, they charge a hefty enrolment fee but you can avoid it by searching kijiji for people who have already paid and are looking for someone to take over their membership (there are always lots)
I get a better deal through a corporate offer we have with them and my company pays half too. They also have their no frill place called Fit For Less for 19 bucks a month. Havent been inside yet but looking in a few times appeared to be pretty full. Kind of the no frills, no trainers etc. version of Goodlife. May be pretty good deal if you don't need the extras.

Certain U of C parking passes are $90 a month. It's generally worth it if you go more than 13 times (about $7 per parking). Two options: Morning only, or night only. Tacking that price on top actually isn't too bad. However, there's more than enough free residential parking if you know where to look. 10-15 minute walk is a nice "cool down" to a work out.
