Other than that the guy hasnt made a single good movie and I never understand why he keeps getting chances.
I thought The Gift and Drag Me To Hell were both quite enjoyable.

This definitely looks more horror than comedy. We always joked that Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness were awesome but the original sucked because they were actually trying to make it scary. Looks like Sam Raimi is going back for a second crack at what he couldn't accomplish the first time around.

I'm into it. Nothing is sacred, and I know I will watch it.
Evil Dead was made for $90,000, shocked audiences, demonstrated strong camera work, and disturbed people with a tree-rape scene - what's not to love or be impressed about.

Also, Locke, I think he deserves a bit more credit than you give him. His resume is not bad (aside from Spiderman 3), and in fact, could be considered very good - though beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Raimi - Director Resume
Oz: The Great and Powerful (post-production)

2009 Drag Me to Hell

2007 Spider-Man 3

2004 Spider-Man 2

2002 Spider-Man

2000 The Gift

1999 For Love of the Game

1998 A Simple Plan

1995 The Quick and the Dead

1992 Army of Darkness

1990 Darkman

1987 Evil Dead II

1985 Crimewave

1981 The Evil Dead

The first evil dead movie was disturbing and viceral and in some parts jump worthy. They did an amazing job with very little in the way of money. There was none of the cornball stuff from the next two movies.

The tree rape scene was raw and edgy for its time.

Even the plot was pretty solid.

But that and the previous rarely scene version I think it was called "It lives in the woods"

Were floating resumes for a third remake, which was the evil dead two. While it was still really well made and as entertaining as it gets. It was cheese ball and schlocky and not meant to scare but to spoof other hooror movies.

Bruce Campbell owned that movie entirely.

The Army of Darkness still is one of my favorite movies. It created a ton of pulp culture quips that survive to this day. It had all the elements of a big budget movie even though the effects are extremely dated. Go back and look at the battle scenes for laughs. But it embraced that and didn't disguise it.

I don't know what they can do with a new one, and it doesn't feel right without Campbell in it.

I can't see myself rushing out to see it.

No. None of those are good. Spiderman 2 is tolerable the rest is hot garbage.

Evild Dead/Army of Darkness are good because they're bad.

His resume is dreadful. There isnt a single one of those films that I would watch unless it was 'Clockwork Orange' style or at gunpoint.

While I'm pretty meh on most of his catalogue, A Simple Plan is one of the top 3 crime thrillers of the 90s, and it also happens to be Billy Bob Thornton's best performance.

A simple plan is an excellent movie possibly his best work. Unlike most I actually preferred the first Evil Dead to the comedic versions that followed. It's one of the best horror movies of its time and an amazing achievement given it's puny budget.

I am 100% OK with Locke slinging mud as it's his opinion, not fact. I do not judge a movie's quality by its box-office numbers but Spider Man 3, 1, and 2 are ranked 6, 15, and 32 all time in gross opening weekend sales http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/

I would be comfortable saying they are far, far from being terrible movies.

I have been an Evil Dead/Army of Darkness fan for a very long time. I am excited to see this new film when it is released to theaters.

I might be on the wishful thinking boat here saying this but you should be guaran-darned-teed Bruce Campbell has some part in this movie. No way in the place where the devil lives does he not show up in this flick. That being said, this looks good. And I will see this.

Raimi also produced Xena and Hercules (shut up, Xena rules), and executive producer of the Spartacus series.

Have no interest in horror movies apart from where they clearly have tongue planted firmly in cheek. Hence a big Raimi fan. Hopefully this new one retains some of the goofiness. Will be waiting on this one.
