I've been really enjoying The Heavy. Theyre a British rock/blues foursome best known for "How You Like Me Now" but their LP has some great tunes. "Short Change Hero", "Big Bad Wolf" and "Coleen" among my favorites.

Canadian bands are are an absolute tear but interestingly very few (none) of them are from Calgary. Pourquoi? I guess Feist and Tegan and Sara count.

How do you define success ("tear")? Record sales? Buzz?

I think there are lots of great Calgary bands. In the past, they would most certainly have to move to Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver. Now it seems more bands are staying put.

That might be a good thread - Calgary bands (past and present).

Great song. I'm sure I heard it before (and it is much like Jesus & Mary Chain, in a good way):

Some of the 2013 music lists come out in 2012...
BBC Sound of 2013 should be out soon. Until then here is a blog along the same theme. http://www.musiclikedirt.com/2012/12...2013-longlist/
Good i-pod refresher.
