Yeah I hate when you get served with one of those little stainless dipping tins and it's like half full. Also when I pay >$15 for a burger and fries I like to get more than rationed amount of fries that look like they had been counted.

In Australia, due to the isolation, market size, and similarities to the American market, McDonalds regularly tries out new products on us. Today we are being introduced to their new "hotter, juicier, and tastier" burgers with the following changes:

-Softer, freshly toasted buns.
-Perfectly melted cheese.
-Beef patties finished on the grill in smaller batches
-Onions cooked on the grill
-Extra sauce on the Big Mac

https://mcdonalds.com.au/hotter-juicier-tastier

What do we think? If this expands to North America would you be happy or annoyed at the change? Personally I'm not sure what McDonalds is thinking with some of their decisions recently trying to re-invent themselves as a classier burger joint. Their appeal to me is consistence and convenience. If I am looking for something tastier that I don't mind waiting around for there are plenty of hipster burger options out there and McDonalds would be my last choice. I suppose I better give these new burgers a taste test though.

^^I don't really see the difference. The Big Mac in that picture looks like every other one I've had, down to the weird freeze dried-esque bits of "onion".

Those definitely didn’t look any more appetizing than a normal McDonalds burger.

I think Boogies does a way better versuon of a Big Mac than McDonald’s does.

Is it even physically possible have a bun ‘softer’ than normal McDonald’s buns????

Boogies is overrated. It's a level above Peters but their burgers are not what I would call great and the place is filthy. How hard is it for some of these places to do a thorough cleaning at least once a month?

Looks like they have had a couple issues, not as bad as some restaurants though:

I dunno. I travelled enough through Asia to stop being concerned about restaurant cleanliness as much as I once did.

That said, a Boogie's Big Mac interpretation in a less sterilized environment is still better than any McDonalds Big Mac.

Anyone know what happened to Naina's? Is it still the same place just rebranded as N9NA, or is it completely new ownership?

Plus it's the messiest burger I've ever eaten, it basically disintegrated in my hands after the first bite. A burger should be a hand-held experience that doesn't require a cleanup crew afterwards

So basically artificial more processed Five Guys or Shake Shack?

The issue with McD's is it will always be McD's. Like Vegas will always be Vegas. Even when they try and artificially recreate something their not, as best they can, you still know your in Vegas.

Their new pretend Starbucks layout complete with the "beep, beep, beep" ovens and smell is a case in point.

McDonalds is also upping their prices quietly. For a few more bucks per person I can go to Five Guys and get higher quality ingredients, more customization options, and more french fries than at McDonalds.

I also don't get that crummy feeling after eating at Five Guys that I do at McDonalds.

Pretty sure it's just a rebranding.

There is something to that. Not sure what it is but if I eat a McDonalds burger and fries it's 50/50 that I get an upset stomach after and really I never get that from Five Guys despite eating more food as you say they give you a lot more fries and the burgers are bigger to begin with.

I don't see the correlation. You could eat at Wendy's or any other fast food place for 30 days straight and see your health deteriorate the exact same way. We all know a steady diet of high fat, salt, and sugar diet is bad. I'm talking about one sitting.

I don't know why the McD's meal would cause you specific problems, but I found the ingredient listing on the fries to be kind of interesting.

https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/a...alculator.html

Quote:
French Fries

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [Wheat and Milk Derivatives]*), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintain Color), Salt. *Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.
Contains: WHEAT, MILK.

Uh.... "natural" beef flavor? Are they being cheeky here with the wheat and milk derivatives? Whatever makes a cow - that's natural beef flavor ingredients.
