I suppose you still gotta at least give the Padres credit for trying. Yes they will probably lose to the Dodgers, but they are giving it a go if nothing else. Dodgers are gonna be the best team in that division for probably the next 15 years at least, waiting for "a window" seems pretty lame. Shoot your shot and all that.

Random question - is Mike Trout like the 10th best player in California now?
No I think the only players you could discuss being better would be Betts and Ohtani right now. Trout's issues are staying healthy (Betts has similar issues) and how long can he hold on to playing centre field. Once he has to move to a corner OF position that's when Freeman/Soto/Tatis/Machado/Turner tier might have an argument.
What are the Red Sox doing? Trading their longest tenured player for some minor leaguers, then acquire Pham for Diekeman and now they have Hosmer? Tinkering not selling I guess.

my favorite Scully related Expos call was the "Tim Raines" Game 1987 "One of the most incredible stories of the year, in any sport!.."
Pretty much wasted the entire career of one the best players to ever play the game, and now they have the closest thing to a modern day Babe Ruth as you can get, and are wasting his career too.
