Got around to watching WW84. Holy cow what a mess.
I never really liked the first one, but I can admit it was at least a good movie. I don't get how they went from that, to this..

Invincible is amazing, even my wife likes watching it! I love the animation in it, it's very simple yet not. It's just like the comic books and it doesn't try to do too much with computer animation (or at least that's how it looks to me). The story is twisted and great, I love the voices on there and think it's just an overall great show. I think today they released the last episode of season 1...I think.

Too bad Invincible is only 8 episodes long. I'd bought all the comic books a while ago, but stopped reading part way through. I'm debating whether I want to keep reading now, as I don't want to spoil the show...

I read through the comics and I'm still enjoying the show, and it may help add some context and emotion.
For example I think the comics do a much better job of explaining Nolan's motivations and purpose and gives it a little more nuance.

Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels is a terrible title.
I think it's just The Marvels. Looks like they'll be incorporating the other characters who have shared the name so it makes sense. We'll get Monica Rambeau coming from Wandavision and Kamala Khan coming from the Ms Marvel upcoming series.
Richard Madden looks too much like Sebastian Stan. At first, I was confused by what I thought was a shot of Bucky in The Eternals without his mechanical arm. But then I looked up the cast list and realized that it's actually Richard Madden.

It looks like it's not going to be Captain Marvel 2. It's just The Marvels.

Also the more I look back at this, especially now that it’s been 2 years since End Game (which is crazy), the more remarkable this MCU journey truly is.
23 movies. Not all of them were good. Some were great. But none were outright bad. They really were able to take over the industry and Marvel took over pop culture.
And the biggest thing is they did all work together to build to what is still probably by favourite cinematic experience of all time in Infinity War. (I will forever love how they open this movie with Thanos destroying Thor and Hulk and showing he means business right off the hop.)
In terms of just overall complexity to pull something like that off it has to be one of the biggest achievements in cinematic history.
Also I think the pandemic helped Marvel a lot. After End Game I think their was a bit of fatigue, and it seemed like it would be tough to follow that up. But now after a two year break from any new feature films it feels like the excitement is there again.

This is the big thing, I can look forward to watching the entire MCU catalog with my kids when they're older and not worry about having to skip anything. Thor Dark World is pretty much agreed upon as being the worst Marvel movie, but even that I can still find some enjoyment in. The Thor/Loki dynamic is great, the battle scenes are fun to watch, and there's some decent humor as well. I'll never go out of my way to rewatch it, but I wouldn't have to leave the room if it's on unlike most of the DC movies
Includes first (brief) footage of Eternals, can imagine a full trailer for that must be coming soon.
Also, official titles for Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 are now Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels.
You know, I generally don't take Marvel movies very seriously. Easy entertainment done well, popcorn flicks through and through.
But this trailer gave me chills. It's a perfect example of why they're the gold standard for this sort of thing. They know what they're making, they know who they're making it for, and they have a firm grasp on the big picture.
Probably helps that they've so perfectly tapped into the emotion of the past year, but damn, what a trailer.
