Weegar Anderson
Kylington Tanev
Mackey Zadorov
Meloche

Trade Valimaki (he won’t passs through waivers anyways)
Trade Hanafin for prospects/picks (we likely only have him for 2 more seasons regardless)

I think it's time to give ruzicka a legit top 6 shot. Guy can put it together he is a big body skilled center who can physical protect the puck like the Flames have never had for a long long time.

Problem is I don't think Tre is going to trade him when his value is pennies on the dollar. I suspect he hopes he can regain some form and his value is better at the deadline.
JVR has been much more productive in recent years than Monahan (41 goals last two seasons vs 18), doesn’t have injury questions, has one more season at $7 mil… and word is teams wanted a 1st or 2nd to take him off the Flyers’ hands.

Cap space is precious atm. No chance any team gives up an asset for Monahan.

Also the Bjorkstrand trade - albeit with term.

I agree. It's time to give Ruzicka a shot at 2C … in training camp. Then we can see if he earns a regular spot in the lineup, and maybe even 2C.

Ruzicka has to step up big time if he wants the 2C or even 3C

He sat back quite a bit after the initial good showing. Use size and motor or he will be the next Jankowski

I do like the look of our lineup in a potential Kadri signing timeline, but the contract term potential scares me there. I also see Backlund potentially taking on the bump back role that Gaudreau vacated on the first PP Unit. I think Backlund has the strongest zone entry and puck protection up the middle of the ice, and maybe this year we see him flirt with 60 points (that's my bold prediction for the year). Interested to see if Mangiapane could pot 40+ goals with increased PP time and a first line spot, and any sort of bump up from Dube or a return to form from Monahan would be huge.

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Pelletier-Backlund-Toffoli
Dube-Monahan-Coleman
Lucic-Ruzicka-Lewis

Andersson-Weegar
Kylington-Tanev
Zadorov-Hanifin

Flames just released this on Twitter. With the second round of the playoffs being my most recent memory of Markstrom, it was nice to see this and remember how darn good Markstrom was throughout the season (and the first round).

Monahan is useless as a 3rd line C, if you are trying to have faith he can get back to his old sniping ways I would move him to the off wing where he can just blast wristers and one timers. Assuming we are done.

Huberdeau/Lindholm/Toffoli
Mangiapane/Backlund/Monahan
Coleman/Ruz..Ruz..however you spell that/Dube
Lucic/Rooney/Lewis

Hanifin/Weegar
Kylington/Andersson
Zadorov/Tanev

Markstrom
Vladar

I still think we have to package a Defenceman with a Forward for an upgrade at forward.

I agree with this but absolutely like the player and hope this is the year he "gets" Sutter!

That Rooney signing baffles me. I get you want competition and not to hand guys spots, but a 2 year term just doesn’t make sense. You have Ruzicka as an option up the middle and surely you could have found someone for cheaper on a 1 year deal. With Lewis/Lucic there you really didn’t need a veteran presence either, let 2 young guys battle it out.

They don't see Ruzicka as a 4th line option. It's top 9 or in the minors for him.

Guessing Sutter and/or Treliving must have liked him enough during the Rangers run to sign him. I remember Rooney and Treliving both saying they think he has a little more offense to give. Let's wait and see.

Has there been any update on Monahan’s health status?

If he can show up to camp 100% healthy, for probably the first time in 4+ years, can he show some of his former self?

I believe it was Scorpion on Twitter last night that suggested splitting up Huberdeau and Lindholm, letting Mangiapane-Lindholm-Coleman carry the two-way duties and letting Huberdeau carry the offensive load. Having a healthy Monahan could go a long way to making that happen and more manageable.

There's a close to 0% chance this happens, in my opinion.

The main way I'd see that happening is if one of Backs/Lindy went down with injury (god-forbid):

Mangi-Lindy/Backs-Toffoli
Huby-Monahan-Coleman

That is my starting lineup as of today before any camp action has started.

When I saw him last season I didn’t think he looked out of place. But I didn’t think he looked like a top 6 guy. I think that would be a stretch.
