The Inaugural Calgary Puck Secret Santa

I'd like to start a holiday tradition here on CP.

Welcome to the Inaugural Calgary Puck Secret Santa. The idea is simple, sign up to give and receive a gift from a fellow poster.



I haven't done this before, Ive only seen it on other forums. I am open to suggestions to help it run smoother. Next year I will initiate it earlier to help facilitate things like crafting and post strikes!


Rules:

1. Registration closes December 2 - this Sunday (at noon Calgary time) and details of your recipient will be sent shortly after close.
2. In order to participate you MUST be willing to spend a minimum of $20-30 CAD before shipping costs. You can spend more if you choose too.
3. You must be beyond a draft pick to participate.
4. Do not register if you do not intend to follow through - those who Scrooge will be named in this thread and barred from future participation.
5. You MUST be comfortable with providing me and your sender with your post address.
6. I will provide you with somebody from the master list and it will be your responsibility to provide a gift for that person.
7. Send your gifts as soon as possible to allow time for them to arrive with the intent of all arrivals before the holidays.
8. Post a picture/description of what you got!

To register:

1. Make your intention clear in this thread.
2. Send me a PM.
3. I will reply with a short questionnaire that will be provided to your sender. The questionnaire is a few questions to help the sender get something you would enjoy. Do not be disappointed if you do not get something from your wish list. Once your return the questionnaire to me filled out I will then add you to the master list in this thread.
4. Your post address MUST be included or you will not qualify!
5. Once on the master list you are expected to take part in the exchange.

Disclaimers:

Everybody should be entering this in good faith. I will do my best to make this run as smooth as possible but there may be a few bumps as I figure this out.

The intent of this exchange is good meaning fun and perhaps get to know another member better. Hopefully we can avoid disappointment, so please don't be a Scrooge!

-What do you own for media consumption? (i.e. game consoles, dvd/bluray player, android vs. iPhone). Answer N/A if you do not wish to receive items related to this.
-Are you against hand made items?
-Are you against gift certificates / gift cards?
-Anti-Wish List. Things you are against receiving.

Hi All,

I'm looking to revive this: https://forums.beyond.ca/threads/377535-Secret-Santa

I have produced a new google form to be used for this. My projected timeline looks like:
Form open for submission Wed Oct 24; CLOSED
Form submission window closes Sat Nov 17. The forms are open for edit up until this date.
Pairings will be sent out on Mon/Tue Nov 20 by email and Beyond PM
All gifts must be delivered by Sun Dec 16th. I've chosen this date just in case people are out of town for the holidays.


Rules will be similar as to the previous, slightly modified:
The submission form requires google sign in. This is to facilitate editing of your wish list up until the form closure date Nov 17.
Minimum spend of $30 excluding delivery (delivery can be made by post or in person).
All gifts will be in brand new condition. Exceptions for Hand Made gifts dependent on the recipient (refer to questions list).
You are free to exceed the limit as you please.
Your information will be posted for Beyond CSI to seek you out if I receive any reports of undelivered gifts.

Cool idea. Although instead of having a minimum I’d have a max. You don’t want a Michael Scott situation where someone vastly outspends others.

I don't want to set a maximum limit because I know people are likely to break it anyway. This is one of the reasons why I said that everybody needs to head into this in good faith. It should be about the giving as opposed to "I spent this and I expect this back". They expectation is something $20-30 who knows what will show up. If somebody wants to spend more, that is their prerogative.

oh man - i'm sooooo into this... but next year. work is just too busy now to do what i'd want to do.


surferguy - definitely do this again next year with an earlier cut off. i'm on another forum that does this and it's pretty hilarious to see what guys get sent. i don't participate in that secret santa since pretty much all the guys are in the states and shipping to the u.s. is just a killer.

Yeah I knew the late start to it was going to hamper things a bit. Are you sure you don’t have something kicking around or some jerky that is begging to be wrapped up? Come on man - you know you want too!
