Team likely to disappoint
Mark Spector: Calgary Flames
Canadian team with highest point total
Mark Spector: Edmonton Oilers
Hart winner:
Mark Spector: Connor McDavid
Art Ross Winner
Mark Spector: Connor McDavid
Vezina Winner
Mark Spector: Cam Talbot
Jack Adams winner:
Mark Spector: Todd McLellan
I really curious on Mark's predictions for the Oilers this year. It didn't work out well for him last year. One out of eight.
Despite what Spector claims he is clearly a fan of the oilers more than an unbiased sports writer, like most oiler fans he hates the flames more than any other team. I wish for once when he's on the fan someone would grow a pair and mention this type of stuff he writes year after year instead of calling him a friend of the program.
I still find it hilarious that a guy who has played 49 games over FIVE seasons, with nine goals for his career, is the Oilers #1 RW.
And hes going to pot 25 this year. Book it!
And they'll sign Jason Garrison and he'll be their #1 Dman, a virtual reincarnation of Paul Coffee who will soon remind them that hes not actually dead.

He's on with Stauffer for a few segments each day on 630 CHED. I can see how Oilers fans thinks he hates their team. Stauffer will go on all day with the rose coloured glasses and proclamations of impending greatness and Spector tends to play the contrarian.
It must be exhausting trying to remember what schtick/persona you need to pull out depending on what show you're on.
I'll bet it ends up being 30-35 goals total from those three.
Just think, if that were their expectation then there might be an iota of a chance of players exceeding them for once! Rather than it becoming the annual land of disappointment by mid season. They just set these guys up for failure every fall by predicting career years all around as they love to do.

Probably because Yamamoto will be scoring 30 goals on the first line.
thus far the 3 have combined for 43 goals in their careers
I suppose somehow these 55 goals could happen or be approached, but only way that is conceivable is if these 3 guys are all top 6 wingers on your team and get heavy PP time, and it's hard to imagine that as a good thing?
I’m thinking that McDavid has invented a cloaking device and will play all of the time, or else the oilies voicebox was predicting that the 3 players would hit 55 lifetime this year, meaning 12 goals between them.

I am not sure if anyone heard it, but Derek Wills had Oilers PBP announcer Jack Michaels on the radio a few days ago, and when asked about the Oilers forward lines @ around the 18:00 mark he said that Drake Caggiula, Ty Rattie and Jessi Puljujarvi would be counted on this season for 55 goals.
Michaels is also a firm believer that Cam Talbot is a better goalie when he is playing +70 games, and that the Oilers are one of the strongest teams in the League at centre.
I don’t think 55 goals is that out of line for those three...in the AHL.
I was out for a fantasy football draft with a bunch of Oilers fans tonight when this news broke. They were all pretty impressed with this deal. I think there is some Treliving jealousy going on in northern Alberta this summer.
Flames fans have Chia-denfreude.
Oilers fans have Trelenvy.

I have a confession, or maybe, it’s more like a request for prayer.
I have to go to a wedding in Edmonton next Friday.
I fly out of Colorado, land in Calgary, then on to Edmonton.
In Edmonton, I expect to be greeted by lots of over indulging in laws, with their “dress up” jerseys, sweat pants and good shoes, saying “how bout those Oilers!” As they slap me on the back.
I expect my layover in Calgary to be the highlight of the trip.

Don't forget that you have to go through decontamination when you leave Edmonton so make sure that you arrive at the airport early and bring a change of dry clothes

Funny you say that. Last time I left Edmonton, I got food poisoning from the food court at the airport.
Note to self, “even the food is no good in Edmonton “
I love how Edmonton fans keep overrating Nurse. Guy is a dman with no offensive updside and is just ok defensively. He's basically Mike Stone but younger. And they want to lock that up to $5M+ long term? Lol, you keep doing you Oiler fans.
