a few years after the 88 games, I was at COP for a concert. Someone I was with knew someone who had the ability to allow a group of us to go to the top of the 90M jump. Well, we walked out of that hut onto a staging area where the athletes would prep for their jump and i can say this without hesitation....it was terrifying.

Unless you experience it, it is impossible to describe how freaking steep that ramp is and how completely insane it is to stand their and think to yourself "yeah im gonna get up to 50 MPH on a coupe skis and launch myself off the end of this thing".

Honestly all i could think then and even now is...so how do you do that for the first time?

Imagine the first guy to try that jump. Similar to the first person to tie a bedsheet-like thing to himself to jump from a plane.

Like most things, you start out with something much smaller and easier and gradually work your up to the big hill.

Watching luge is fun. It doesn't seem like they're going fast at some points and then the graphic shows 123 km/hr .

Nice job by Sam Edney on his first day of runs.

of course the 90m hill wasn't enough, they had to go to to a larger hill.

Does anyone know where I can watch the opening ceremonies? There was a link on the CBC website, it is dead now. On CBC.ca it says to check your cable providers on demand feature, which I have (I have Shaw BlueSky) but I cannot find it anywhere and it is quite annoying.

The world put up with Nickleback at the closing ceremonies. We owe them this much.

I didn’t watch the opening ceremonies. To be honest I totally forgot these Olympics were starting, until they started.

No NHL = care level is very low.
