Expecting most won’t go anywhere, except for Rinaldo. For whatever stupid reason this organization has decided it always needs to keep one player on the roster who can do literally nothing but fight two or three times a year.
I'm so unfathomably excited that the Toby Rieder pipedream is finally coming to fruition
If he succeeds here I want the next E=NG title to be "Ried it and weep"

Here's hoping Talbot, Lucic and Rieder follow the same career trajectory of Dubnyk, Schultz and Cogliano. Once you get the stench off, they can spread their wings and thrive.

Rinaldos a dirtbag, but having him there for preseason I think will make some players think twice before cheapshotting anyone trying to make a name for themselves.
More likely is Rinaldo cheapshots someone and then we have to worry about the other team retaliating against our good players.

We have a guy who can do that, and he is the surest thing to make the opening day roster in the organization.
The organization loves having guys on two-way deals who can provide a physical element in Stockton. That's a very different league with a lot of fighting, even still.
Peluso, Glass, and Gazdic come to mind. With only 41 contracts on the books at the moment, the Flames have a fair amount of room to sign some depth guys like these, although they still have to be conscious of Tkachuk/Mangiapane and trade deadline flexibility.
Rieder is a good PKer. I'd be interested to see how he's utilized in the pre-season -- i wonder if they think he might be able to take on some of Hathaway's old responsibility when down a man.

Big, right shot, good skating winger with a good playoff resume.
Plus he's good friends with Monahan, so fitting in to the room shouldn't be an issue.

DSP and Toby "It's all my fault" Reider could be good adds for many NHL teams. Not sure they would fit in with our depth, but perhaps they're around to sign after a trade is made to make cap room. Toby would have to score 15 goals otherwise we're in huge trouble.
Excellent. Was interested in Smith-Pelley after his run last summer. Think he has a good chance of making the team as we could use his size and tenacity in the line up. Possibly even an upgrade over Garnet?
