Didn't close the thread. There's the OT forum, there's this thread, there's multiple places to have that discussion here. Which is fine with me. In fact, it's great. But politics is involved now in so much we read about sports that we can't even just have a fun hockey trade without having to talk about something negative or controversial yet again. It's draining.
It's a Calgary Flames hockey board. Sometimes people here just want to talk about hockey. Especially when a big trade happens. That's all. Hope you get why I was getting annoyed.
Why is it political? Did I bring up the carbon tax or whether or not building a wall will benefit border security? Anything about student loans being forgiven or enforced? Those are political topics.
The Flames just traded for someone who made league wide news last year for refusing to support LGBT people for whatever reason. That's something you'd think would come up in the trade thread. If they trade for Evander Kane or Carter Hart, or hire Bill Peters, what do you expect people will be discussing?

I guess I must be missing the critical assumption: it's political to be LGBT or even speak of such people and it's apolitical to be straight and cisgender and assume everyone else is.

This. Yes. This.
For example when it comes to youth no one asks a straight or cis kid if they're 'sure' about their identity etc.

I do have to laugh, a thread about Monahan being traded is full of "F Treliving" "Nice wizarding Treliving". But talking about Kuzmenko who was actually part of the trade, is going off topic and causing a bunch of whining about a pretty tame post.

It was a brilliant play by the right. They make it political to be part of the lqbtq community or support them, then they say "don't shove your politics down my throat".
I can't speak for other mods but I will say often I pop in here for a few minutes then get busy with life and and then will pop in again later in the day. Or not at all. Or I'm at work all day. Things get missed. Please don't take a poor post left up as us condoning it. I will take a look.
Yes, a thankless volunteer job for sure. We know the mods do their best.

Thanks for calling out the hypocrisy for what it is. I'm glad there's a handful of posters in here that get it.

Every time I see you post, and ironically in a thread about LGBT Pride...all I can think of is:
The Cheever Letters.
