I'm not sure how many Nation of Ulysses / The Make-Up / Weirdo War fans there are around here, but it is probably interesting to a lot of fans of old school-styled punk:

Picking a favourite Portishead song is a difficult task but this one certainly has to be on the shortlist. White people from England making some of the sickest beats ever is what makes music so great.

That is some pretty ill stuff.

They are another group that I didn't pay enough attention to in their early years.

I never even heard of Portishead, very good band. Listening through Dummy and it's rather awsome. Would be a great soundtrack to almost anything, makes me want to go snowboarding.

yeah Dummy is amazing. Roads is my favourite from that album

Portishead, Air and Massive Attack are basically the soundtracks to my mid teens. Plus lots of rap

Going through an obscure electronic phase right now.....

FKA Twigs album is unreal. Feels like Bjork meets R n B.

Liking Caribou's new album. Can't Do Without You is a lot of fun.

Thom Yorke's follow up to Erasure, Tomorrow's Modern Boxes is moody and wonderful. Fav track is Guess Again! but this is the best video I could find

If you listen to one song I post, I'd suggest this:

Royksopp are awesome. I hope they come to town one day, but I doubt it.

For some great straightforeward rock Titus Andronicus's "The Monitor" is an incredibly ambitious album that gets a bit better every listen. They have a very rough sound which turns some people off them, but they're worth a listen.

I can't recommend Halcyon Digest enough. Really lush and beautiful rhythms and melodies all over this thing:

Flying Lotus's new album "You're Dead" is great too. Fun trippy jazzy hip hop grooves:

Portishead and Massive Attack all but invented dub step, the first bass drop I'm aware of is from Dummy, of course for them it was just a tiny part of their musical output.
Every half arsed DJ (I'm looking at you skrillex) should be forced to listen to them.

Probably one of the weirdest combos I have seen in a while:
