If you can install a hidden hitch I still think it's preferable, otherwise you can probably just take off a tire and shove it in.

Then you are stuck with the manky ones that hang off the tailgate. For occasional use they are doable, but you may want to look at the price of getting a hitch. Our Impreza one was $300 installed. Then you are looking at anywhere from Kijiji specials, to $200 Mec racks, to $800 Thule ones...

Did a fun mini-CP ride with worth and the_only_turek_fan out to Bragg Creek. Windy as hell but still managed to keep a good pace.

Go to Standens, get a hitch and have it installed for less than you could buy the hitch for alone.

The hatch style ones are brutal, especially security wise.

There's a fun event next weekend if you're interested in racing. The Double Down Criterium Weekend is on Saturday and Sunday. It'd free for spectators. I'll probably stop by for a couple hours with the kids to watch a few of the races.

1565 27 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8Y2, Canada

The Double Down is a fun, fast-paced weekend of Alberta racing featuring two back-to-back criteriums. Held in the sexy industrial heartlands of Northeast Calgary, this weekend is a great chance to throw down against other racers and show Alberta your mad crit skills.

The main events will be held Saturday and Sunday, with a special Zwift prologue occurring Friday night. There will also be a kids race held at noon on Sunday.

Over $5,000 will be available in cash, swag, and bags! Prizes will be awarded for individual events and the omnium. Not to mention an epic moustache competition!

MAIN EVENTS - Saturday, July 21 & Sunday, July 22

Saturday's 1.9km course features a steady descent, a false flat and a spicy kicker. Sunday's course is 1.2km, flat and fast. Both will be plenty of fun!

Saturday, July 21
9:30 am Cat 5 men (14 laps)
10:20 am Cat 4 men (16 laps)
11:15 am Women Cat 4/5 (14 laps)
12:40 pm Cat 3 men (18 laps)
1:40 pm Women Cat 1/2/3 (18 laps)
2:45 pm Cat 1/2 men (22 laps)

Sunday, July 22nd
9:30 am Cat 5 men (20 laps)
10:20 am Cat 4 men (23 laps)
11:15 am Women 4/5 (20 laps)
12:00pm Kids race
12:40 pm Cat 3 men (26 laps)
1:40 pm Women 1/2/3 (26 laps)
2:45 pm Cat 1/2 men (30 laps)

Took the wife out to south bragg today, and we rode elbow xc ski trail, iron springs, loggers loop, west crystal line and the used ranger summit to connect back to elbow.

Solid loop with 17km, and almost 400 m of climbing.

Excited to hear MEC is opening up a couple new stores with one of them being in Seton for us Southies. Anyone know when they might be opening?

Opening first, in fall 2018, a 30,000-square-foot location (21,000 retail) in Seton Urban District, south-east Calgary. Roughly six months later, in 2019, a west Calgary location will open in the Trinity Hills development within the new community of Medicine Hill.

Frustrating that there are zero bike shops anywhere near my neighbourhood.

I'm in Harvest Hills, Royal Oak's Bike Shop is the closest since Eurocycle closed and Tuxedo stopped doing bikes.

I've been in a few times and they're a solid shop. Especially for getting something for the kids that isn't a Canadian Tire special.

Unfortunately they don't seem to offer much for road bikes.

Not sure it is much of a deal, I paid $65 for mine in December. Regardless, it does a really good job.

Edit: you get $13 off at checkout, so there you go, it is actually a deal.

The ELEMNT computer is also on sale. ~$75 off at checkout. I prefer the Bolt but the ELEMNT is a solid stand alone computer.

Meeting a buddy in Rossland this weekend for some beer drinking and mountain biking. We are both not real great, but fairly intermediate. Tend to stay away from any major downhill'n. Any advice would be great, we only have a couple days and we are usually terrible at research.

Thanks in advance.

Advice: drink the beer AFTER biking, not before. One for lunch is A-OK though.

Seven Summits is near there and it's incredible. Flowy downhill, nothing crazy, but you've gotta work to get to the top. It's an IMBA Epic ride and totally earns it.

I had one of those for about 4 weeks. Poor design, kept popping loose. I sold it and got a Garmin Tri HR instead - much better.
