What do you think the Flame's play style or mojo will be like next year?
Of the typical things, I presume many members expect the following:
1. Kids get ice time, kids aren't rushed, kids are protected
2. Same hardworking attitude from last year
3. Score wise on games played, they continue to be close in score like last year
4. Entertaining
5. Buy in from all players. Prima donnas/locker cancers not welcome.
Style, attitude or mojo wise, what other attributes are you looking for and why? Passing game, an aggressive game (what type? Shooting, physical etc.) etc. What do you think? I'm not talking specific players and things like expecting Ramo to become Kiprusoff. I'm talking overall team things.
Personally, with some of the recent moves, I think it would be nice if we started seeing a few more Gordie Howe hat tricks. It seems to fit the idea of a "Truculent" gritty player and really enforces the idea of "playing big" yet contributing to the needs of the team. Seeing opposing players obliterated in checks or fights would be great, but I'm sure seeing point/NHL standing results would be better for many. It would be interesting if we become known as a hard working but gnarly team to play against, but with a great attitude off ice as well. McGrattan in a sumo suit again would be hilarious IMO.
Between McGrattan, bouma, Bollig, Wolf alone this upcoming season, I'm expecting a lot of people on the other teams to get hurt on a regular basis and I think we will take pride in that. We are getting back to other teams dreading playing the Flames on home ice or otherwise.
I am really interested to see what moves they make. Treliving has stated he is looking to address the blue line. This team is in need of a #3 defenseman preferably right shot.
Treliving also said if Cammy leaves relaxing his goals is an option. Eklund says the flames are interested in Vanek. Maybe they offer a 2 year deal at $9M per? I hope the flames target Brad Marchand if they are looking to replace Cammy's offense.
I want to see us compete for a playoff spot. I think we are fully capable especially considering the tear we were on towards the end of the season. The big difference from last year (thus far) is really the fact that Cammy will most likely be gone. If we can replace his scoring through free agency/trade, I don't see why we have to miss the playoffs.
And of course, if we do make the playoffs, it'll be so sweet to talk crap to Oilers fans
I still expect Treliving to do some tinkering before training camp, so it feels a bit premature to make any predictions.
I expect the team to have the same work ethic. I expect Monahan to have a bit of a sophomore slump, but only because it seems to happen to most young players. I expect Brodie to have a career year playing with Giordano.
Beyond that? Tough to say. Judging by the lineup, as it stands now, I think we'll be in the mix for McDavid/Eichel/Hanifin.

You know...after getting Bennett, even though my signature has declared McDavid - I would not be opposed to getting Hanifin, kid is scary franchise-level good.

9 million per for Vanek ? Yikes Vinny, The guy can score a few goals, but that's about it. I wouldnt be paying the guy Crosby type money- no thank you.
