Yeah, I agree. Looking at the rankings as they sit right now, I couldn't pick any that I would call "Game of the Year" worthy.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for me. No other game held my interest as long as got me as excited.

Did not play a single 2019 release game, 98% of my 2019 gaming was Rocket League or Hearthstone.

If this were a best game of the decade debate. I would have to argue that Rocket League would be in the top 5.

Definitely not a huge year compared to 2018 for me. I’ll throw in these:
1) SW Jedi Fallen Order
2) Metro Exodus
Fallen Order’s great, and tells a wonderful SW story. I didn’t quite finish Exodus and hadn’t played many of the prequels, but it also tells an incredibly intriguing story within an engrossing, gritty post-apocalyptic setting. The clunky gameplay is all that seems to hamper it at times.

I feel Sekiro was technically the best game I played in 2019 but it's not going to get my GOTY because it was just too hard. I feel From Software just went too far as I have finished all of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne games and while very challenging I never felt them to be torturous like Sekiro where literally no amount of strategy could make the game less hard as lightning fast button reflexes were required to beat bosses as it's the first game where I spent close to 10 hours on a single boss fight. At the end of the day that's just not fun so I'm going to go with Control for GOTY as while not perfect it was a unique and enjoyable experience.
1. Control
2. RE 2
3. Sekiro
4. Borderlands 3
5. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
The Outer Worlds just misses the list for me because while I enjoyed the story and humour, the constant loading times from area to area just killed the game for me. I feel it's a promising start and a more polished second effort could make this a great franchise but I'm starting to find that the biggest obstacles in gaming today is load times and it's something I really hope is addressed next gen. Also honorable mention to Metro Exodus which I waffled on putting on/off my list.

Didn't play many new titles this year, but I'll add
1. Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition (kinda cheating since I technically have not played yet, but getting it for Christmas and it's got bonus content over the PC which I 99%ed -- ain't got no time for that silly costume achievement).
2. FFXIV Shadowbringers

1 vote for Disco Elysium.
It's wordy and buggy, but it's decent enough, it tries to do something interesting, and it's the only 2019 game I've played this year.

I just install a SSD drive into my PS4 because outer worlds was driving me nuts.
Huge improvement. I would say for the $70 I spent and 15 minutes of time to install, it was totally worth it.

I was going to say, this must be on console, because on a laptop the loading is pretty normal. It would have to be really over the top to interfere with my enjoyment of that game.
