Thiem's run in Portugal ends with a loss to Quentin Halys. Halys has played well in 2023 and Thiem is starting to play better, just still struggling with his confidence out there on the court.

No Canadians playing Monte-Carlo, no Nadal nor Alcaraz. Novak returns and Oikos is the two-time defending champ although his shoulder is still questionable.

Probably the right call to go in a different direction although I don't know if his issues are all coach related as he doesn't seem to have as much pop on his forehands as he did prior to the injury. Maybe he needs to experiment with different strings and racquets if he hasn't already.
I see a lot of people (mainly on Twitter) ripping Ruud for not having any titles over the 250 level, but 10 titles for a guy so young is quite remarkable.
boo clay is the best You get your hardcourts the other 9 months.
Not when they slow the hard courts down to basically make them clay courts (Indian Wells being exhibit 'A'). That said, if it weren't for the clay courts, the smaller guy in tennis wouldn't stand a chance against the big boppers. I think the ATP should add a Masters 1000 grass tourney (or make an existing 500 a Masters 1000). Maybe Hamburg?
