Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy rounds are tomorrow.
Jennings was at $2000, I think.

And you're right about the buzzer. Watson has a huge advantage when it knows the answer with sufficient certainty because it can buzz in so quickly (and do so over and over). I also love the animated swirls on the "avatar" It's very cool to see the response when it gets a question right, or to watch it churn away when unsure.

LOL

Alex:This decade showed the invention of the Oreo and something else.

Ken: 1920

Alex: No, Watson

Watson: 1920

Alex: No, thats what Ken just said.

That and the non-dairy answer in the trials were awesome.

Ken glaring at "Watson" after that answer was hilarious.

After seeing the first show, I am in complete awe about Watson. I find myself rooting for the humans but we'll see how it plays out.

I remember Ken attributed most of his success to his buzzing in ability. He claimed that most players know the answers but aren't as good as him at buzzing in (which I think is just modesty as he knows an inhuman amount of info).

I thought it was a little strange that Watson went on an unstoppable run and then after the commercial break was suddenly wrong a bunch and missed some opportunities to chime in. Wonder if they tweak him?

The performance/watt of the humans is so vastly superior to Watson it's unbelievable.

How does Watson buzz in? Because this is a truly unfair advantage for the computer.

It's got a mechanical attachment to a standard Jeopardy buzzer. I'm speculating, but it may buzz in by listening to an audio feed of Trebek reading the the question, and then making a determination that it's time to buzz in after so many milliseconds of silence (and whether it's reached the "buzz threshold" for any given answer).

It seemed to be very consistently fast, which irritated the other two players. It looked like at least Jennings was starting to buzz in earlier without fully knowing the question and then using the few seconds answer period to figure it out at last.

I think they said it get's sent a text file the same time the contestants hear the clue.

I only watched the first half but my personal opinion is the only reason Watson can compete with those 2 is because of a advantage in hitting the buzzer. Case and point, Watson cleaned up the easy questions on day 1. Once the hard ones came around his lead disappeared.

Anyways it's doesn't matter, even if Watson wins he's didn't beat Brad or Ken in Jeopardy, once Watson or his succesor are able to process the clues via the audio and visual clues and can beat them then its beat them in Jeopardy.

Right now they're not playing Jeopardy but rather a quiz show designed to showcase a new search(simplifying obviously) algorithm in a game tweaked to provide the computer with as much of an advantage as possible without appearing completely unfair.

The other advantage or is that Watson gets a text file when Alex starts to read the question. This allows him to instantly process the search terms whereas Ken and Rutter have to wither read ahead or listen to Trebek. I think Watson should have had to interpet language or read using a camera to truly compete with Humans.

The click advantage that Watson has is very large. Watson rarely misses ringing in on a question that he knows the answer to.

Regular Jeopardy players have a screen on their console where they can read the text of a question in entirely as soon as it's selected, precisely so they don't have to wait for Trebek to say it out loud. Watson is getting exactly the same information a normal player would, only it's behaviour is that of a deaf player who speed reads.

Watson is getting the entire question instantly. Either Jennings needs to get the question injected into his brain or Watson needs to read it using his senses for it to truly beat a human at jeoprody.
