But if Nintendo were to do an N64 Classic I think it would be huge like their other ones.

N64 emulation is a mess, they would have to spend way more time getting each specific game they included to run at an acceptable level, and the hardware required would likely push the price point too high to be profitable. I doubt we'll see that one happen

Looks like it'll be easy to preorder:

Yeah I think it was a bit of a misstep to announce the thing and open preorders without even telling us all the games on it. The only one of the five they announced I'd care to play is FFVII and I have that on my PS4 any time I get the urge (which is an enhanced version with smoothed out graphics and some QOL improvements to boot). There's literally hundreds of games the other 15 could be, and what they are would influence whether a lot of people would pick this up or not.

But you can already see that nobody cares that much -- preorders for NES and SNES Classic sold out in seconds. This has been sitting on Best Buy for a couple days.

I think the fact that people didn't play the NES or SNES classic as much as they thought they would also may have softened the market.

Those two are still available right now too at different stores after a 2nd shipment came.

Personally for me at this point I go back and forth on if I just want them as cool display pieces for the games room...because they do look cool.

I don't believe Nintendo actually held any preorders. I recall them being day of and essentially being shipped out right away.

Looks like Sony is taking a different route and actually allowing preorders and like adjusting manufacturing to match. It's funny how people had conspiracies about Nintendo purposefully not making enough classics and got all upset when prices spiked.

This seems like a normal hardware rollout and I'm pretty sure a good amount will be sold.

I don't get the point of the PSX classic unless there's some serious overhaul to it or a constant stream of freebies that aren't available in any other way. The NES and SNES at least it could be argued it was hard to obtain and whatnot, PSX, much less so I believe.

Many PSX titles are easy to get on PSN to be played on a PS3. I saw a 50% off sale earlier this summer and I nabbed a ton of games for around $100. I think on average I paid $5-6 a game (Between $2 and $10 per game)

Yeah, looking back it was November 11, 2016. No preorders.

I did manage to get one that day and it was hilarious watching the online mob go from one site to another as they got cleaned out the day of release.

If it's got all three of Chrono Cross, Twisted Metal, and Tony Hawk I'll seriously consider buying it.

Tony Hawk won't happen simply because of the music licensing issues. The other two should be standard though

I don't want to hear that it is illegal, but playing PS1 games on a computer through emulation makes the graphics much more tolerable than what this will look like on the TV.

I wish these throwback consoles would use wireless controllers.
I'm no longer 10 years old where I had a 13 inch TV and carpet that I sat in front of to play games.

I want to sit on my couch and enjoy, and not be forced to buy another cord extender.

There's nothing illegal about emulation. In fact it was Sony suing the makers of Bleem! (the original PS1 emulator) and losing that set the precedent for emulation being legal. Acquiring the games is where you get into not-so-legal territory, but at least in Canada if you have a case of PS1 games stored away somewhere and decide to download digital copies of those games to play in an emulator, that's perfectly above board

Can you use xbox controllers on emulators for windows 10? For that sweet sweet analog movement? If so I may need to replay FF7 and have all the feels.

Yup, Retroarch will natively pick up any Xbox One or PS4 controller plugged into a PC and auto-map the buttons, and the original PS dualshock controller is emulated perfectly with analog control and rumble support

Yes. Also, the Switch Pro Controller, which feels great, can be used with emulators.

Suikoden 2 I totally agree, but it can do without Legend of Dragoon. That was a mediocre game at best.

Too bad no Xenogears, or FF Tactics. Those would have been good.
