I was thinking of getting a CP ride going to move a bunch of the scooters to the SE. The problem is that when the juicers come to recharge them- they could end up being put back into the core.

The juicers have set spots they have to return them to.

The lime bikes seem quite heavy.
I haven't tried one but today saw a girl not able to control one and wipe out.

They were heavier than I thought when I tried them, but they aren’t overly heavy imo.

Went downtown on a day off. Don't get down there often, not much need to. But we took the train, got off at the library to see it. After that, down at the river we saw people zipping around on the scooters. Decided to give it a try and man, what a blast. Wound up going down the pathways, over to Princess Island, back to downtown and all the way back to where we started.
Didn't see anyone bail but did see lots of people doubling up riders. I think they are a neat idea but can see how idiots will ruin it for the rest of us.

It's actually Prince's Island named after the founder of the Eau Claire Lumber Mill, Peter Anthony Prince. I didn't know for the longest time.

Speaking of dashcams, I still haven't managed to find somewhere to install mine. I have no intention of doing it myself so it's just been sitting there waiting. The places that advertise it as a service won't pick up the phone, which doesn't inspire confidence... I guess this is more of a GMG post.

Not too hard. I'll do it for $50 out of my garage in the NW. I supply the parts and labour.

I loved these things up until I got stuck behind one going down a single lane road downtown yesterday doing 15-20km/h for a block & a half. Now they can all burn in hell.

Thanks, but I'd rather have it done by people who do it for a living. Might cost me a bit more but the end result will likely be as professional as possible. Otherwise I'd try doing it myself.

Stuck behind? They're not allowed on the road. Was it in a bike lane or is your complaint targeted at people who break the law, rather than the scooters themselves?
I did take one of these things home the other day (about half an hour, mostly on bike paths). My takeaway is that they're too slow for that. Downtown, on sidewalks, a 20km limit is fine. But for the bike paths, even though 20 is technically the speed limit, it just felt totally inadequate.

It's the law-breakers that GMG. I honestly really love the e-scooters and I use them a couple times a week, but they need to start cracking down on the riders who aren't paying attention to the rules. I think a lot of people don't realize that these things aren't allowed on the road, including the jerk from yesterday who was in the middle (not even off to the side!) of 2nd Ave putzing along.

Downtown I think the road is the appropriate place for them. When it’s busy speeds are low, when it isn’t busy there are multiple lanes on most roads. It would get them off sidewalks where the public as opposed to the scooter driver is at risk.
Doesn’t address your case of the single lane road but overall treating them like a bike rather than a pedestrian makes sense.
I take scooters now to all my Downtown Vendor meetings

Maybe on the north/south roads that aren't major. But every other road moves at 50 km/h+ all day outside of maybe an hour or 2 from 4-6. Can't be having scooters maxed at 20 km/h on the road.
The real issue is idiots on scooters and total struggling pedestrians.

Use the horn when they're on the road.

Outside of 4-6 you have 4 lanes that are open a scooter on the right lane won’t affect traffic at all in non-rush hour conditions on multi lane roads.
Bikes are in those lanes doing 15-30. Maybe my real question is why does a bike go on the street and a scooter on the sidewalk

I was just reading an article in the Herald on e-scooters. Edmonton has started their pilot and taken the opposite approach to Calgary. Banned on sidewalks allowed on roads with 50k and below speed limit.
Will be a good study to see which model does the best.
