Are player injuries officially recorded by the league? For example, if a GM was considering trading for a player, would he have access to what surgeries were performed and why games were missed?

I think there have been trades in the past that required a player to pass a physical exam by the acquiring team’s doctors before it was official. I assume a GM could also ask for medical records before making a trade. If the other team refuses, I’m sure that would be a big enough red flag to kill the deal.

That said, we know the oilers have traded an injured player to an unsuspecting team more than once, so who knows what the actual rules are.

Monahan will not travel to Winnipeg because the Flames don’t want other guys getting sick
If it's infectious, it's probably too late to stop it spreading. Be prepared to see other guys drop out of the lineup in the next week or so.

The one thing though is it Smith was feeling dizzy and nauseous, and Monahan was as well, one might be caused by illness and the other by concussion. Still, I think it's pretty possible that they just have same thing.

Glad to see that it was just an illness. Hopefully it didn't last too long or infect other players.
