I'm pretty impressed with the changes in iOS 13. I'm especially excited for iPadOS. The iPad Pro desperately needed mouse support and a better file system to live up to the name.
Im just over half a day with the beta on my iPhone xs and iPad and so far no major issues. The iPad os is glorious with the new features. The first 10 minutes both devices were really laggy and had panics but after the indexing was done it has been smooth sailing.
Photos is next level great for someone who takes hundreds of photos because of the way it organizes everything. So far I am a big fan.
Yeah that's brutal, but it's nothing compared to some audiophile stuff. You'll see cables that cost $999 that don't do anything a $5 cable doesn't. I'm guessing that stand at least has some cool engineering behind it.
Does the monitor come with a non-pro stand, or is it just the display? And does it use standard VESA mounts, or some weird Apple "standard"?
No stand included. There is a VESA adapter but that's $200 US. This is meant for professional video editors and Apple claims it compares to much more expensive monitors. I have no idea if that's true, but if it is they'll probably sell a ton.
The video was taken down, but following cheers for the monitor price, the guy was almost booed off the stage as he tried to slide in the stand price at the end.

(Compared it to a $45,000 monitor)
Apple can't win. They make a professional monitor for a fraction of the price of what their competitors offer but they sell an optional accessory for too much and that's all everyone can talk about.
It doesn't do 2020 or PQ so I am not sure where this falls. Waiting on one in the LA office for testing but Eizo still looks better spec wise at the moment and they include a stand or at least a vesa mount.
As ridiculous as it is to us common folk, there's a class of people that will absolutely buy it because they can.
Haha! 😊 Actually laughed at "the common folk" part. It's an overpriced monitor stand, it's not a Bugatti Veyron. The stand isn't a luxury item that's out of reach to the common man, it's just a hilariously overpriced item.
Funny that Apple is now copyright claiming sites hosting the laughter clip.
He's probably the Apple fan "dribbling over the new monitor" in those guys' tweets.
I'm really surprised Apple even announced that price. People have been waiting for an expandable Mac Pro since what... 2004? They finally make one and all anybody can focus on is the stand price. Feels like Apple should have probably seen that coming. That being said, I'd be surprised if it wasn't flagged by several people but overruled by a higher up somewhere.
There's another factor I suppose. Apple notoriously does not give a single warm damn about people outside their target demographic. This product is meant for those doing projects worth 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars. A $1000 stand – while oddly pricey – doesn't matter quite as much when it's coming off a grant or massive expense account.

As pointed out though, this is a specialty item. This isn’t a home desktop computer.
But I still think it’s silly to not have a stand as part of the product. Bump the price up accordingly if you have to.

The people that buy Bugatti Veyron's are the exact people that would pay $1k for a monitor stand. How many regular posters at CP do you think are going to spring for one of these? I could purchase an exotic car if I really wanted bad enough but realistically it's something I shouldn't really do as it's a luxury purchase for the wealthy.
