Yeah I don't know. I don't really want to sink a bunch more money into this thing when it's going to be obsolete by the end of this year. The usb cables are working so at least this thing isn't a total brick anymore. They've been out of commission for like two years and I haven't bothered to try and fix it.
Definitely sounds like a possible issue with the console, assuming you aren’t in an area of significant WiFi interference.
Anyone have some recommendations for 4 player online PC games?
Trying to set up some online gaming events with buddies while staying in. No battle royal games.
Monaco
Deep Rock Galactic
Earth Defense Force 5
Hammerwatch
Helldivers

I just finished Doom Eternal. What a ride. Some of the fights, especially towards the end, were insane. Mick Gordon outdid himself with the soundtrack.
Any recommendations for a good solo xboxOne game I could get into?
I strictly play sports games (NHL, Madden, Fifa, etc) but am bored of those, not to mention NHL frigin sucks.
I am not really into first person shooter games, mainly because I suck. the last non-sports game I tried that I just fell in love with (cool story, easy enough for me to be able to play and advance to the end) was Assasin's Creed II, which I tried on a whim.
Any suggestions would be very very very appreciated.

not sure if it's for you, but Red Dead Redemption 2 is absolutely outstanding. Great story, great characters and a level of immersion that I just haven't seen in any other game I've played.

Witcher III is available for XBone, and it's probably not even that expensive five years later. Definitely the place to start for a single player title.
As more of a dark horse pick I would recommend Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Kind of a dumb sounding name but it's an excellent game.
Unfortunately the vast majority of good single player games are solely available on PS4.

Thanks man.... Though, I'll throw in a caveat. Any suggestions of games that meet my above criteria but that a year or older. Not sure I wanna spend $80 (price on ms online game store), but perhaps in another day or so I'll be desperate enough.

If you don't want to spend much, get XBox Game Pass
It has Forza Horizon 4 (best racing game ever IMO), GTA 5, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Two Point Hospital, Minecraft, Subnautica, The Outer World's, Overcooked 2 and hundreds of other games you can check out
Game Pass Ultimate is only $1 for the first month, so worth a try to see if you like any of those games

woah that's crazy. I've seen it for 20 or 30 bucks everywhere for months now.

If you've only played ACII, there is a massive catalog of other AC games to work your way through. There is a 3-game bundle called The Ezio Collection that has all the games where Ezio was the main hero, including ACII. It looks like the bundle is available on the XBox store for $50, but it does include 3 full games (unfortunately, you've already played one of them).
All of the major AC games are available on XBox One except for the first one, but it's easily skippable. It does establish some of the mythology of the series, but the series doesn't really hit its stride until ACII, so that's a good starting point.
If that's the sort of game you like, the Watch Dogs games have a similar style of game play (stealth, puzzle solving, with the occasional piece of combat) but are in a modern city setting.
The new Tomb Raider games also do that style of play well. It looks like they're on sale for cheap on the XBox store right now.
The Batman Arkham games are also very well done in that style of gameplay.
