Oh, 100% about geography. Plus, I've just always felt that they needed a bit more support (as you can tell from the number of fans in the stands), so I just decided to be a fan. There have been a few good moments along the way, but mostly, they're just tough to be fond of. They do so much to shoot themselves in the foot (expansion draft comes to mind, randomly firing Gallant, poor trades etc.).
In general, I've become a massive, massive Barkov and Huberdeau fan, so I'd probably support the team just for those two.
To be clear, they are far and away my second favorite team behind the Flames.

Lol, the 10 day forecast has partly cloudy skies and a daily high between 75 (24 C) and 86 (30 C) degrees. I may hit the driving range this week, but at the very least I'll go for a few bike rides.
*checks Calgary forecast*
Oh...oh sorry.

If you love hockey it's not about the level of it, it's rooting interest.
If you live in Prince Alberta and are a Raiders season ticket holder you probably enjoy those games more than an Oiler game if you only go to one a year and thankfully aren't really a fan.
Team Canada will always have my rooting interest ... I care. So I'm not analyzing how good the hockey is, I'm just really hoping my side wins.
Same with my kids when I coached. Loved watching my kids play hockey because of once again rooting interest. Having your kids win a great game is magic, if they score a goal or stand out it's a whole other level.

A rooting interest means a lot, but it sure helps if the hockey is high quality and something is on the line.
I find even non Canada games at the World Juniors fun to watch, particularly in the knockout stage. Walking into a Mac's tournament game is pretty good too.

I remember catching that Finland vs Sweden final years back and that was some of the most exciting and intense hockey I've watched at the world juniors. Looking it up, looks like it was 2014. Damn.

Bunch more positive tests for Germany and Sweden inside the bubble.
Likelihood the WJC actually happens? I am guessing its starting to decrease in likelihood.

I've found myself secretly cheering for underdogs vs Canada. It makes the tournament more intriguing when Canada is out to be honest

I love how McDavid had to name a dude captain that had a huge part in eliminating the Oilers this year

Yeah wow, not good.
8 German players. are they still allowed to play? Wouldn't this pretty much wipe out an entire team?

I find I always go into the tournament excited about cheering on Team Canada, but I'm turned off by the excessive celebrating and running up the scores on inferior teams in the round robin. It detracts from my enjoyment of the tournament.

When does this frequently happen? I can recall maybe twice over the last 10 years, in games against Norway, where one team has really been said to run up the score.

Had a quick peek...pretty sure there is more if I was to dig further.

Canada 14 vs. Denmark 0
2018
Canada 8 vs Denmark 0
Canada 8 vs Switzerland 2
2017
Canada 10 vs Latvia 2

The score is the score - what are they supposed to do, just pass it around patronizingly?
Celebrations should be muted, but you have to play the game.

Maybe Denmark shouldn’t be competing with the top 4 teams? No coach at that level can tell their players to lay up

Yep that’s how it is. Only option is to shrink the size of the field but IMO if you want to be a global sport you need to have double digit number of countries competing in your championships.
I’m Danish and have been thrilled every team the Danes qualify. They have been competitive some years.

No argument there, just showing that the poster who suggested there are some blowouts that take him out of the mood is valid.
And I agree, blowouts will happen, but the celebrations need to be tuned down a bit in those cases.
They aren't fun to watch imo. Those are the games I actively try avoid.
