The Worst Person in the World is a great love story mixed with a (late) coming-of-age story. The scene where Julie, the protagonist, runs away from her boyfriend into her new lover's arms as time stands still is beautifully done.

Someone recommended Power of the Dog here a few pages back, great call.
One of my favorites of the year already, very damn good.

Watched Last Night in Soho over the weekend, and I enjoyed it immensely. I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Really enjoyed the Power of Dog on netflix but (potential spoiler warning) was surprised with how small of a role Thomasin McKenzie had. Pretty much two scenes back-to-back and that was it, and it really was so small any extra from Downton Abbey could've done. She's really f'n great and I hope she finds some bigger roles.

I watched the extended edition of The Town. Not sure it added anymore to the film that made be love it more but it was great to watch the movie again. Affleck is a great director (Live by Night was a bit of a let down).

Her role in Last Night in Soho was pretty big and yes she is fantastic.

I'm so impressed with The Tragedy of Macbeth. I love that it doesn't try to set it in a typical movie world, but isn't on a stage either, existing in some weird place that is all the meticulousness of the set and yet the scale and darkness and light of noir cinema. Where it can play with some really interesting metaphysical elements. The cauldron scene, the forest coming to dunsinane, and a brilliant closing shot in particular. I appreciated some of the clever reworkings of the story, including reshaping Ross's role into something far more intriguing, while remaining true to the original dialogue.

Watched Swallow. Not a bad film, but very uncomfortable at times with some of the 'eating' scenes.

Took my boys to Uncharted this afternoon. We all really love the games.
The trailers are an accurate representation of the movie. Some entertaining parts but overall a bad movie. I wanted to get over the casting but I couldn’t. I like Holland and don’t hate Marky Mark but they are horribly miscast in this.
I know it’s based on a video game but you really need to suspend disbelief in some scenes. Just ridiculous.

Just watched the original King Kong from 1933 for the first time in a few years. It's the original popcorn movie, and it's still beautiful in all its jerky stop motion, black and white glory.

Hmmm....
I have a sneaking suspicion on the theme of your next pre-game video.

Maybe not the next one (cue the dramatic foreshadowing music)...

Good to know.
My son loves those games.
One of his main gripes after seeing the trailer is Sully's lack of mustache

Watched Venom 2. Wish I didn't. So many things wrong with this movie I don't even know where to begin.
Carnage is one of my favorite Marvel characters and Woody ruined him. The bantering between Eddie and the symbiote was lame, especially how funny it was in the 1st movie. Tom Hardy seemed 'tired' the whole film. Terrible acting on his part. And the CGI...woof. It seemed to get better in the last part of the movie. But prior to that it literally looked like claymation at some parts. I was actually shocked how bad it looked. Marvel usually does it right in that department. This was just ...bad.
Overall very dissapointing, especially with how good the first one was. The film also had like 20 minutes of credits, which translated to around 80mins of actual screen time. I guess that was merciful given how bad the movie was. Just weird to see the credits roll and almost 1/5 of the time bar left over. Weird.

I could write a lot of words about how ridiculously hilariously bad Uncharted was.
I’ll sum it up by saying it was better than Red Notice but only barely and the guy next to me slept thru the entire movie. Nuff said.

I really liked this one. Thought it was a very effective portrait of domestic abuse and self harm and how the latter is often linked to a need to retain control over one's own life. Thought the lead actress did a great job too. One of my favorites of 2020.
