Plus it was awesome when the fans sang "Take Me Home, Country Roads" during the game last night, and North American sports needs more fun team songs like that one.
Technically the Sharks have a loose connection to the 1967 expansion Golden Seals too.

I think I will be cheering for the Blues from here on. They are the team that has been in the league the longest without a Cup. If any fan base is "deserving" it is them.

I'm hoping for a St. Louis - Carolina final, so hopefully Blues take this series. I think it will go to 6 games.

If Sharks go to the finals, I wouldn't be too bent over it. Would like to see Thornton raise the cup too.

Yep, that was quite a circle route to having a hockey team return to the Bay area. The Golden Seals leave Oakland, become the Cleveland Barons, and then merge with the Minnesota North Stars and remain in the Twin Cities. Here are two of the better explanations and a key quote of the Sharks and Seals history from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Barons_(NHL) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_N...pansion_Drafts

"The league arranged a special dispersal and expansion draft in which the Sharks claimed 16 North Stars players in a dispersal draft, with both teams then allowed to choose players in an expansion draft. Although the NHL considers the Sharks to be a separate franchise from the Seals/Golden Seals/Barons, the dispersal to San Jose had the effect of reversing the original Barons-North Stars merger, with the Sharks occupying the same market as the Golden Seals did prior to their move to Cleveland."

I don’t even care who the hell wins anything this post season. The fact that the two teams that beat the best teams are also both out seams bazaar.

Randorf and Hughson are the 2 remaining PBP guys for CBC?

Rick Ball still criminally underappreciated.

Sammy Blais destroyed E. Karlsson with a hit along the boards.

I enjoyed that.

Hertl's cross check to create the turnover in the goal has set the tone for this game, with plenty of stick work that has followed. This is going to be nasty, and fun

Meier is such a tool. I'm sure he couldn't hear the whistle there.

Bouwmeester gets a pretty soft interference call, but then SJ gets away with one themselves at the blueline followed by Parayko breaking Kane's stick for a 5 on 3.

Should be 4 on 4, not a SJ 5 on 3.

Pavelski scores in the 5 on 3. Sharks would be nowhere without the refs.

So I assume the refs will call a 5 on 3 for the Blues if the situation arises? Ha. Ha. Ha.

SJ is apparently allowed to interfere with any Blues player at any time.

Labanc makes it 3-1, but ROR answers. 3-2 now.
