Default Day 5 (PM of February 8 - AM of February 9)

Qualification begins in Women’s Snowboarding Halfpipe at 18:30. 16 year old Calgarian Brooke D’Hondt and Elizabeth Hosking are the Canadian competitors. This should be shown in full on CBC, and I think on TSN as well.

Run 1 in Women’s Slalom starts at 19:15, I’m not sure if this will be live on tv in full, but parts may be on CBC as well as Sportsnet. Laurence St-Germain, Ali Nullmeyer, Erin Mielzynski, and Amelia Smart are the Canadians competing. Run 2 starts at 22:45. The second run should definitely be on Sportsnet.

At 20:00 the Men’s Freestyle Skiing Big Air Final begins, I think this will be on Sportsnet and CBC. Evan McEachran is the lone Canadian.

Also at 20:00 the Seeding starts in Women’s Snowboard Cross, I believe this will be on TSN or TSN2. Tess Critchlow, Audrey McManiman, Zoe Bergermann, and Meryeta O’Dine are the Canadians competing. I love this sport.

The Qualification in the Men’s Halfpipe starts at 21:30, this should be on CBC. Calgarian Liam Gill is the lone Canadian competing.

The 1/8 Final in the Women’s Snowboard Cross begins at 23:30, this should be on TSN1, TSN2, or TSN5. The Quarterfinal will begin at 00:07, Semifinal at 00:28, and the Final at 00:45.

At 01:00 Nordic Combined begins with the Normal Hill Ski Jump. It ends with the 10km which will begin at 04:00. I think parts of this will be shown on one of the TSN channels.

The Men’s Hockey Tournament begins at 01:40 with ROC facing Switzerland. I think this will be shown in full on CBC.

The Quarterfinal in Men’s 1500m Short Track starts at 04:00 on CBC, I think it will also be on Sportsnet or Sportsnet1. Pascal Dion is in the first race, Steven Dubois is in the third race, and Charles Hamelin is in the fourth race. The Semifinals should begin at 05:29. The Final should begin at 06:13.

At 04:44 the Heats in the Women’s 1000m Short Track begin. Kim Boutin is in Heat 5, Courtney Sarault is in Heat 6, and Alyson Charles is in Heat 7.

At 05:05 the Round Robin in Men’s Curling begins with Canada’s Brad Gushue rink taking on Denmark, this should be on one of the TSN channels.

At 05:20 Run 1 in the Doubles Luge begins; I think this will be on TSN2. Calgarians Justin Snith and Tristan Walker are the Canadians competing. Run 2 starts at 06:35.

The Semifinals in the Women’s 3000m Short Track Relay starts at 05:45, Canada is in the second race. This will be on CBC.

At 06:10 Denmark faces the Czech Republic in Men’s Hockey, this should be on one of the Sportsnet channels.

Haha, I really don’t understand why they don’t just toss something together each day outlining what channel events will be on. I can’t imagine it would be too challenging for someone at CBC to do.

One thing I've noticed over the last couple Winter Olympics...

There is a craaaaaazy amount of Calgarians, which makes sense because of COP. I swear like every 2nd or 3rd athlete that gets talked about is from Calgary. It's nuts.

Calgary alone & Quebec as a province have to be the two biggest Olympic representatives for Canada

Because they are lazy reporters looking for hits unlike you who take the time and care to put a viewing schedule together. You should put this on a blog, Canadians would love it! We'll help you tweet the heck out of it.

The reporting out there is bad. Like "Olympic Ski Jump Built Beside Nuclear Plant!"

Jesse Campigotto does their daily Viewing Guides and does a good job of highlighting the high profile stuff and mentioning the big names, I just like encapsulating everything and giving a little shout out to all of our athletes. The main thing the CBC Viewing Guides are really missing for me is the lack of mention about tv coverage.

Elizabeth Hosking with a CLUTCH second run in Women's Halfpipe to qualify for the Finals after falling on her very first jump in the first run.

Has an outside chance of a medal.

16(!!!) year old Brooke D'Hondt also makes the Finals!

Very surprising to see the poor performance by Mikaela Shiffrin this Olympics. 2 DNFs is very unusual.

McEachran is shockingly in Silver medal position after the first run!!!

Gonna need to stomp at least one more high 80s/90s jump to have a shot (combination of the top 2 scores from the 3 runs is what determines the rankings).

Would be awesome to see another unexpected Canadian medal!

McEachran falls on his 2nd attempt.

Will need to stomp his final run for a chance at a medal

The male commentator on the Big Air, needs to visit a speech pathologist, cannot listen to him.

Is that the guy that says "smoo" instead of smooth? My dad was like that too for some reason. Other words ending in th like teeth or booth or bath were completely fine but smooth was a big problem.

He's French Canadian, pretty thick accent is all, and at least he provides insight. The lady just does "wow" and giggles and reads the provided notes on each person.
I think she does the women's color for the Slopestyle and Big Air and she's annoying.

The two guys that do the men's big air snowboard and slopestyle are great.

Unrelated, I think Canada in Alpine events, should go back to the yellow suits like the Ken Read/Podborksi/Brooker/Lee-gartner era suits.
Austria, Swiss, Norway and others all wear red.

I didn't pick up on french accent. And speaking downhill skiing, I quote enjoy the two guys doing the commentating for that, I think one is Bryan Stemle?? Quite insightful and I like the personal stories and history they know and share about the skiers.

Potentially a big development medal-wise for Canada, who finished 4th in the Figure Skating Team Event...

https://twitter.com/user/status/1491279679768363014

Vincent Zhou, a member of the Silver-winning Team USA, tested positive for COVID after his event. Wonder if it has something to do with a possible DQ on that front.
