Also, why bring the OIlers up? Leave em in the dust like our team has. I swear to god, the only place I keep hearing about the Oilers is here. They're irrelevant.

Smith should get every start until he loses. I really think we may be witnessing an organizationally planned rope a dope with their #1 goalie {Smith} conserving all his gas until now.
Or he is on a bit of a hot streak and when he gets cold.. the other guy has barely played since the all star break and low in confidence.
Like I said, Smith has done well but Rittich needs to play soon. Besides, he plays very well when he isnt the clear #1 option.
The Coyotes are 7-2-1 against pacific division teams. Those 2 losses? Calgary. #### you Calgary.

Seems like it's been forever since we beat these guys.
Does it matter who they put on the ice?
Gaudreau hasn't scored a goal in his past eight games after scoring 10 in his previous 11. This pretty much guarantees he gets a a hattie.
Former Coyote Michael Stone out with a blood clot. Yikes! Get well soon.
Quote:
Crouse and Fisch need to just park in front of Smith and get in his head. They don't need to run him over or anything, just get under his skin.

Calgary absolutely destroyed us a month ago

7-1 and 6-1 this season. The 6-1 loss were also a matinee game. I don't have a good feeling about this.
Btw, why this early on a monday? I won't complain though, 10 PM start time for me.

Because @$%! Canada. That's why. (Yes, we're still bitter about sacking Washington DC) #presidentsday #washington #neverforget #24-8-1814 #makeitsix
The b'damned Flames on Washington's ceremonial birthday? Come on, NHL's scheduling office!
Quote:
Haha this will be an interesting game... also one of the games I had as a probable L while looking through the Yote's schedule... would be huge for hopes to turn it into a W as well.
I'm just hoping it's not like the other 2 games against them this year.

Is there really a game in 5 minutes? I'm not awake enough for this yet.
Quote:
So stupid. I don’t like our chances against Calgary. I think we can easily beat Edmonton. Pickard should get today so we can just hang on and hope we do something, with Kuemper playing tomorrow. You want to beat the teams below you and I don’t like Pickard playing tomorrow

Give us an old school Mike Smith dive. Have somebody go behind the net, just lightly tap him on the arm and see his gear explode off his body. He gets a penalty for embellishment, of course.

Smith is such a turd
Quote:
I’m sure i am not alone in the lack of surprise that Smith let in a high glove shot or that it happened shortly after he got bumped. What does surprise me is that it took a period and a half for anyone to get close enough to make that contact. He played here for how long?? Honestly everyone knows if you get in his face and bump him a little he crumbles and that his high glove is Swiss cheese. Why did it take so long when there are several players who played with Smith and should have known that script by heart???
Quote:
Are we trying to help smith with his rigth pad saves? Always the same place.

Somebody duct tape Smith's mask to his ****ing head. One little nudge and it flies into space.
Quote:
Somebody go 5-hole on Smith for old times sake.
Quote:
Mike Smith is such a ****head. He’s been brutal this year and hasn’t done anything to contribute to Calgary’s success. I hope he’s traded to Detroit at the deadline.

The Calgary Injury Bug Curse
Quote:
It was playing against these same Calgary Flames near the end of the 2017 season, when a dirty hit by Michael Frolik put Jacob Chychrun on the surgery table and out of action. So, once again they got a stick in OEL’s legs, as he went crashing into the side boards. I’m not suggesting retaliation, but asking if any player or coach remembers the Flames’ history? They seem to play awfully tentative against this team.
Quote:
####. Please be ok OEL.
Quote:
I don’t remember the specific play you are referring to, but generally the Coyotes are soft and unlikely to retaliate even against a dirty hit. Not saying we need to be broad Street bullies of old, but there should be a few guys willing to drop the gloves to defend each other
Quote:
Oh, please be fine.

I’ll just be happy to finish this game without losing a knee to the Flames

Can we just survive against this team for once? This game is waaaaay more important for us than for them.

What a wonderful time for a hockey game.
Quote:
Lackadaisical forecheck and such poor passing. It's like we don't remember what the Flames have done to us the last two times we didn't show up against them.
Quote:
So we know OEL is already playing hurt, what did he injure now? Seems like he grabbed the leg, though I guess we don't know if that's the same one.
Quote:
Man, pickard could have had that.
But the defense has 90% of fault there.

You can't just let Gio walk in all alone and do what he likes. Piss weak defense and Pickard got himself out of position.

just lucky for him that the puck got deflected and landed there.

Come on Yotes... Gotta stop those breakdowns from happening.

Awful defense and bad goaltending on that one.

Seems like a nice time for a cheeky Brad Richardson goal.

Defensive breakdowns but these are stoppable pucks. Hill is better than Pickard.

And that why i am not a fan of playing with an empty net and taking the goalie of.
It almost never pays off.

Effort was there, but two D breakdowns and questionable goaltending from Pickard killed it in the end. Throw it out and focus on tomorrow, which is a must win.
Quote:
At least we only play them one more time this year. Maybe that game we can hold them to only 4 goals.

Every time i watch a game live we loose. Man i should not watch those games and stick to the highlights and THG.

That was a good Flames team. I think the goalie choice was correct - Darcy tomorrow when we have a better chance to win. Not sure switching goalies gets us the W today

And to think, prior to the Klefbom injury, we would've hit the 20 win mark on the earliest date since the 1985 regular season. Without looking, this stretch of hockey over the past two months has been one of the worst the league has likely seen in some time.
Ken Hitchcock should have stayed retired.

I can't believe how ****ing bad this team is when McDavid, Draisaitl and RNH are going to have career seasons. We have McDavid in contention for the Art Ross and Draisaitl in contention for the Richard. It takes a special kind of incompetence to assemble a roster this bad around those players.
I guess a top 5 pick this year might be a blessing in disguise if a new GM can come in and surround these guys with the right pieces. As embarrassing as it is, I'm cheering for losses.
Quote:
Bad news: We play 3 straight games the night after Calgary plays that team (Yotes, Islanders, and Ducks). Not good for the yearly tank job

love Raz. Seamlessly stepped up into a bigger role, got two assists ... future is bright with all those young defensemen. Thought Prout did well too. Happy for Czarnik to get back-to-back goals after being in the press box for so long. Ryan continues to impress. Depth scoring is key right now, it's great to see that they continue to score goals and win games despite Gaudreau and Monahan not being at their best right now.
pretty professional performance all around.

Maybe a little off topic, but why did they start Pickard against you guys? I have Kuemperon my fantasy team and started him today thinking he would play against the Flames and the Oilers would get Pickard.

Save the better goalie for their more direct competition?

New NHL way of thinking. Start your backup against the stronger team on a back to back and hope for the best. Put in your better goalie against the weaker team to get the guaranteed points
