You know you're at the Calgary Stampede when you can see sights like this . . . . .

I love the deep fried oreos, can't wait to have a couple bags of them again this year (that's right, I said a couple of bags).

I will be coming to Calgary for the Stampede this year, first time ever.

I am coming strictly for the concerts, but I imagine I will have to do something during the day to pass the time

Every year I tell everyone around me how much I hate Stampede, and how I want to get out of the city.

And every year I end up going to the rodeo, drink about 400 jack and cokes, eat my face off, go on rides, and then sneak into Nashville North.

At 36 you would think I might stop doing that, but it's just too much damn fun!

Anyone have the Stampede spreadsheet yet?

Get into a bull-shooters breakfast. You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!

Deep-fried pickles are awesome. I love going to the Stampede and surrounding events.

While I can't wait to get blind drunk at NN this year, I'm also looking forward to the new Cboys. Brilliant idea putting it right in the Casino on the grounds (well the tents just outside).

I won't be around for the first weekend, when all the good bands are playing the Coke Stage, I'll be in Kelowna.

But I'll definitely make it down at least two days, one for the company function and one for The Trews.

Not my cup of tea. A crowded, sweaty tent full of drunk people screaming "save a horse, ride a cowboy" would be my own personal hell.

They definitely had this last year, but I don't think it was as obvious to find. There was a place right across from the NN outside concession that was selling it...I remember being at work and staring at the sign thinking how nasty that would be!

Or like this, which is a reason all in itself to attend:

I went to the grounds for the first time in years last year, through the office function at my job. We went for lunch, the rodeo, and to Nashville North. The biggest highlight for me was the email/phone call (I forget which) from my bank the next day saying my debit card had been used at a compromised location (thank you Nashville North), and that I should got to my local branch to cancel and get a replacement.

Steering clear again this year, time to start a new streak of indifference/hostility.

So what are some of the events/parties that are a must? This is only my 4th Stampede so I haven't seen/done everything yet.

Got tickets to Stampede Roundup a couple years ago (including all-you-can-drink tickets) which was pretty good. Will probably catch at least one concert at the Coke stage and maybe check out NN one night. How early does NN line up during the week? On the weekend?

Some of us are thinking about doing an afternoon pub crawl, as who doesn't like getting drunk while the sun is still out?

What other things am I missing?
