Celebs and hockey.
Given this is the dog days of summer with limited NHL newsflow, I thought it would be interesting to post any celebs connection with hockey.
BarDown had this article on their site today that Steve Carell was a pretty good goalie and even had his own "Elite Prospects" page. He considered going to a Division I hockey program, but ended up attending a Division III school.
Here's the link. Also highlights a couple of vids where hockey was featured on The Office.

Richard Dean Anderson always had lots of hockey references in MacGyver and Stargate SG1
from wikipedia....
Quote:
Richard Dean Anderson (born January 23, 1950) is an American actor and producer. He began his television career in 1976, playing Dr. Jeff Webber in the American soap-opera series General Hospital, then rose to prominence as the lead actor in the television series MacGyver (1985–1992). He later appeared in films such as Through the Eyes of a Killer (1992), Pandora's Clock (1996), and Firehouse (1997).
In 1997, Anderson returned to television as the lead actor of the series Stargate SG-1, a spin-off of the 1994 film Stargate. He played the lead from 1997 to 2005 and had a recurring role from 2005 to 2007. Since 1997, he has starred in only one film: Stargate: Continuum, released in 2008, as a spin-off film after the Stargate SG-1 series finale in 2007. He appears in the follow-up Stargate series Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe (as Major General and later Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill).
Anderson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the oldest of four sons born to Stuart Jay Anderson and Jocelyn Rhae Carter.[1] He is of Mohawk, Norwegian, Scottish, and Swedish descent.[2] He grew up in Roseville, Minnesota, where he attended Alexander Ramsey High School.[3] As a child, his dream of becoming a professional hockey player ended when he broke both of his arms. He developed an early interest in music, art, and acting. For a short time, he tried to become a jazz musician.[1]

I am pretty sure he was a flames fan as well. I remember seeing him wear a flames hat on the show.
Well there you go ^^^

He was given the hat at a celebrity slow-pitch game at Foothills.
There used to be a team of celebrities who travelled around playing against local celebrities/sports teams to raise money for charity. For a couple of years, they came to Calgary and played a game against the Flames.
After the game, the teams traded hats (or the Flames just gave hats to the celebrity team, I don't remember). The next season, MacGyver started wearing the Flames hat on the show.

Taylor Kitsch played in the AJHL and BCHL. My friend who played hockey at University of Lethbridge said he tried to walk on to play there or something like that but didn't make it. Even has a limited hockey db page.

Seems unlikely Steve Carell had an Elite Prospects page when he was at college in 1984. Maybe he had a page on microfiche instead?
