Poor Jets fans. Extend a career .500 coach that delivers nothing but and a GM that works like he's got his hands tied behind his back. This is what happens when an ownership group doesn't have to worry about the backlash of empty seats. As long as they keep selling out there's never going to be pressure on ownership to make any drastic or costly changes.

it does seem like a lot of "experts" like the jets talent pool, so I suppose that is progress of some type

I hope the Jets organization does the right thing and extends them for 20 more years.

Arguably the best amateur scouting in the league is probably the only reason the organization isn't in total shambles. I don't know if Cheveldayoff is a major benefactor of his amateur scouts or not. He at the very least hasn't got in the way of finding good young talent.

Decent roster on paper, yet same issue of crappie on ice results, most undisciplined team in the league...
But let's re-up the gm and coach on a job well done.
I suppose in Edmonton, they'd be up for promotion.

This is great news for 30 other teams. Jets have the ammunition to be dangerous but will do nothing with those two at the helm.

Votes of confidence usually always preface regime changes. A poor start and buh bye. Maurice has a shelf life too, I'm shocked he's gone this long without getting fired.

Chevy isn't getting enough credit here for his drafting. The Jets have gone from nothing to one of the best prospect pools in the league.
Now, I accept that it's easier to draft when you continually finish in the basement. And poor trades and coaching are helping them stay there. Chevy isn't a great (or even good) gm but he has put together a good group for the draft.

What good moves has Cheveldayoff made other than drafting Scheifele? I'm not counting Laine as that was the obvious pick.
He seems content to keep collecting draft picks without taking any risks to improve the team. While the Jets look to be on the upswing, one playoff appearance with no wins in 6 seasons should be getting you fired, not extended.

I was thinking they should lift his Lifetime Ban but only for this thread.

Cheveldayoff drafts really well, but he's such a pansy on the open market. I could understand being a little tight with the purse strings when the team first returned to Winnipeg, there would've been a lot of uncertainty.
They play before a packed house with some of the highest ticket prices in the league. Their owner is worth $15 billion.
Spend some money, you cheap ****s.

The Jets just continually under-perform. Year after year.
When you under-perform, at first it is on the players. If it persists, that's on the coach. If it persists for years, that has to be on the GM.

Didn't Frolik want to stay with the Jets but they low balled him? He is exactly the type of player who could help them get over the hump.

Cheveldayoff certainly doesn't strike me as the sort of GM who overburdens his team with expectations. I've rarely heard the Jets talking about themselves as though they expect to be a playoff team, even though they have the best young sniper in the league, reasonably good centre depth, and a blue line featuring Byfuglien, Trouba, Myers, Enstrom, and Josh Morrisey.
They really seem content with being mediocre, and they're not willing to spend money to get better.
